SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF THE TREATMENT TRAIN TWO MOTOR CONTROL
CENTER ENGINEERING SERVICES CONTRACT FOR WASTEWATER
TREATMENT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the Treatment Train Two Motor Control Center
engineering services contract with Gupta & Associates, Inc.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Capital Fund 200 in an
amount not to exceed $28,000.
BACKGROUND: Gupta & Associates, Inc. (GAI) will perform the design for the replacement
of Treatment Train Two Motor Control Center at the Wastewater
Treatment Plant which has been in service since 1986. The Motor Control
Center is, in essence, a large industrial electrical control panel for
electrical distribution, instrumentation and controls. It provides power for
the air blowers, clarifiers, approximately 10 pumps, lighting and is critical
for the operation of Train Two. This contract also provides design for
connection to a transfer switch which will allow the MCC to run off
generator backup during power outages. GAI will design the project and
will provide bidding support for the installation.
Construction costs of the proposed Motor Control Center is estimated to
be $380,000.
Staff recommends approval.
