AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE N0. 76-31
RELATING TO WATER SYSTEM CHARGES BY AMENDING
TITLE 7 , CHAPTER 2, SECTION 15 , RELATIVE TO
APPLICATION AND COST DEPOSIT; PROVIDING A
PENALTY, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE,

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS.

Section 1. That Title 7 , Chapter 2 , Subsection 15
is hereby amended as follows :
7-2-15 APPLICATION AND COST DEPOSIT
Any person desiring to obtain water, wastewater and re-
fuse service shall make application to the Water Department
and before such person may be granted such service, he shall
deposit with the City in the form of a cash deposit or cash
bond a sum of money equal to the rates shown on the following
table:
Single Family residential- $15. 00 minimum
P�Iultifamily (apartments) -$100. 00 minimum
per 2" tap
Commercial - $25. 00 minimum
Industrial - $200. 00 minimum
Fire Hydrant Meter - $450. 00 minimum
Upon determination of the City Water Department a sum
�-.� of money equal to one and onehalf (1 1/2) times the average
monthly bill for the three (3) services for that type and
size of customers may be required. The City Water Department
`�" shall have the authority to require an additional deposit if
it is determined that the cash bond is inadequate to meet
the one and one half (1 1/2) times the average monthly bill
requirement. Failure to pay water, sewer and refuse bill
within the time alloted for payment shall be considered
notice by the customer to discontinue services and to apply
as much of the deposit as necessary to the satisfaction of
the past due bill. In such cases no services shall be
renewed to the customer until the sum of money on deposit
shall have been brought back up to the full amount of required
deposit.
Section 2. Penalties . Any person violating any
of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof, shall be
fined $1. 00 to $200. 00.
Section 3 . Severability Clause. If any section,
sentence, phrase, word, paragraph, or provisions of this
ordinance or the application of that section, sentence,
phrase, word, paragraph, or provision to any person, situation
,�, or circumstances is for any reason adjudged invalid, the
adjudication shall not affect any other section, sentence,
phrase, word, paragraph or provision of the Grapevine City
� Code. The Ciy Council declares that it would have adopted
the valid portions and applications of this ordinance without
the invalid part, and to this end the provisions of this
ordinance are declared to be severable.
Section 4. Emergency Clause. The fact that the
present ordinances and regulations of the City of Grapevine,
Texas are inadequate to properly safeguard the health,
safety, morals , peace, and general welfare of the inhabitants
of the City of Grapevine, Texas creates an emergency for the
immediate preservation of public business property health,
� safety, and general welfare of the public which requires
that this ordinance shall become effective from and after
the date of its passage and it is accordingly so obtained.
