WHEREAS, at the City of Grapevine election which was held on
May 13, 1972, the certain charter amendment providing for the
office of Councilman, Place 6, passed by a vote of 350 for and
69 against
WHEREAS, the City Charter provides that a special election be
held for the purpose of filling the newly created office of
A Councilman, Place 6
WHEREAS, the laws of the State of Texas provides that the
election code of the State of Texas is applicable to said
election, and in order to comply with said code, an order should
be passed establishing the procedure to be followed in said
election, and designating the voting place for said election.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
THAT a special election be held on June 30, 1972, to fill the
newly created position of Councilman, Place 6.
THAT all independent candidates at the election to be held on
June 30, 1972, for the above named office, file their applica-
tion to become candidates with the Mayor and City Secretary of
said City at the City Hall, Grapevine, Texas, on or before the
30 days from the date of said election.
THAT all of the said applications shall be substantially in
the following form:
To the Mayor of the City of Grapevine, Texas:
I hereby request that my name be placed upon the official
ballot for the election to be held on the 30th day of
June, 1972 as a candidate for (name of Office) of Said
City. I hereby certify that I am eligible to hold said
office under the Constitution of the State and have
resided in this State for a period of twelve months and
six months in the City of Grapevine and have been an
actual bonafide citizen of the said City for six months
or more just proceding this application.

That the City Secretary shall, in accordance with the terms and
provisions of the Election Code, post in his office the names
of all candidates who have certified to him by the Chairman of
the executive Committee of any party holding a convention or
primary election for said above mentioned offices, and the
names of all independent candidates who have filed their applica-
tions in accordance with the terms and provisions of this order,
and said names shall be posted for at least 10 days before said
City Secretary orders the same to be printed on the ballot for
said election.
This City, having one election precinct, said election shall be
held at the City's Fire Station at the Corner of Main and Texas
Street, Grapevine, Texas
The City Secretary is hereby authorized and instructed to
provide and furnish all necessary supplies and personnel to
conduct said election. Said supplies and personnel shall be
furnished at the expense of the General Fund of the City of
Grapevine, Texas®
This resolution shall repeal every prior resolution in con-
flict herewith, but only insofar as the portion of such
resolution shall be in conflict and as to all other sections
of resolutions not in direct conflict herewith, this resolu-
tion shall be and is hereby made cumulative.
The Mayor shall issue all necessary orders, writs, and notices
for said election and the returns of said election shall be
made to the City Council immediately after the close of the
polls and the completion of the counting of the ballots.
