The City Council mzt in regular session on the above date those
present werz Mayor 'JJoods, Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle , Huber
and Vandeventer. Alderman Pai�ker being absent.
The minutes of the previous meeting was r�ead and approved as read .
The City Budget for 1965-1966 totaling �2�}.L{., 85?.00 was discussed
and adopted by a motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman
Huber. Motion carried by Aldermen Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and
B�rtedict voting yes with no noes.
The resignation of Charles Linehan was read and aceepted by the
Covmil effective October 1 , 1965.
A motion, by Alerman Pirkle, seconded by �lderman Huber to authorize
the calling of seven bonds in the 195p Bond issue for Nov�mber 1 , 1965,
by Ordinance No. 65-16. M,otion car�ied by Alderman Vandeventer, Huber,
Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no no2s.
A motion by Alder�an Huber, secondad by Alderman Pirkle that from
the evidence presented , including reports from Lone , Star Gas Company,
Texas Power and Light Co. , the number of Postal stops and City
utility reco'rds, it is apparent and without question that the
inhabitants in the City of Gr�pevine , Texas, exceed' the number of
5,000, that an Ordinance be drawn reflecting such finding, and that
a Charter Commission be appointed to function according to law with
the view of callingan election whereby the City of Grapevine, Texas,
could qualify for a home rule charter. Motion carried by Alderman
Benedict , Pirkle , Huber and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman VandeveMter to %
adopt Ordinance 65-17. �inding the number of inhabit�nts in the
city and appointing members of a charter commission. Motion carried
by Alderman Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with
no noes.
City Attorney was to be instructed to draw up an Ordinance prohibiting
Utilities companies frr�m connecting onto proposed building sites unless
the contractor has a pe�mit from the City.
The council interviewed Mr. Reed H. Hdman for the positi �n of
patrolman in the Police department.
A motion by Alderman Pir�le, seconded by Alderman Bsnedict to employ
Mr. Holman at a starting salary of �325.00 per month for the first '
3 months and then be raised to .�h350.00 per month if the City and
Mr. Holman are satisfied . Mr. Ho han would recei�e a �10.00 uniform
allowance each month. Motion carried by Alderm�n Benediet, Pirkle ,
Hub er and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
i The �ou�cil disapproved Mr. Jackie Keaners request ta move a house
into town on his lots on N. ��ain S�reet and ta b� used as a aarage
�fter it was repaired and fixed up.
Counci2 decid�d to rewark the �orth front of the City Hal2 and part
of the ��a��� cauncil room and move the Library into th3s section
af the City Ha22 , alsa autharized Mr. Gus Ha2bert t� d� the work.
