April 27, 1962
The City Council met in a call session on the above date, those
present were Mayor Johnson, Aldermen Kaker, Harwell, and Matthews.
Alderman Deacon and Hayward being absent. Mr. Willis Pirkle,
Alderman-elect, and Mr. Glenn McWhirter was present.
The bids for repairing and remodeling the City Hall was opened and
read aloudand are as follows:
Ceiling:
Pearson- To furnish and install Armstrong Cushiontone

Wickes Lumber Co.- To furnish 12xl2x - Spindrift ceiling tile

Motion-carried. Three votes for none against.
Stone and Company was to be contacted and have them submit a plan
of their proposed duct work. Also Willard Jordan was to get a
price on the duct work to be installed in the ceiling on his
proposal . Also prices were to be gotten on a second hand vault
door, Roof Work, sidewalks in front of the building and filling in
with masonery at the rear of the building.
Mr. Glenn McWhirter of Freese, Nichols and Endress met with the
council to discuss ways of eliminating the water from coming into
the water treatment plant.
1. Digging out around the plant and placing a drain pipe in gravel
at the bottom of the concrete footing.
2. To chip out the floor to make a drain trough around the building
South, East and West Walls and let it drain into the pump drains.
These things were discussed by the council and Mr. McWhirter was to
get some cost figures on doing some KKX of this work to eliminate
the water from seeping into the plant. Also Mr. McWhirter was to
ask Mr. Bob Nichols to meet with the Council Tuesday Night. The
price from Nathin & Co. to put gravel and a drain pipe above the
concrete footing was $14.00 per foot and to close in the under side
of the roof overhangwith an asbestos material $810.00 and to use
corrugated aluminum $548.00 plus 15% for these pric es.
Jim Hancock gave the council the price of vinyl tile to be put
on the floor of the water treatment plant office, rest room,
chlorine room and the hall includeing the hall where the instruments
are located. The areatia's 466 sq. ft. of floor space. The price
of tile runs from about 3U a square on up.
A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Harwell to approve
the spending of $200.00 for floor tile for the water treatment
plant. Motion carried.
