The City Cauncil met in regular session an the above date those
present were Mayar J�hnson, Alderman Deacon, Matthews, Harwell ,
Kaker and Hayward. Also present were Alderman-elect Dr. Ira Woods,
�. W. Parker, and Wi2lis Pirk2e. Fresse, Nichols, and Endress
Engineers w�a represented by Mr. Bob Nichols and Glenn McWhirter.
�inutes of the previous meetings was read and approved as read.
Mr. Nichois and Mr. McWhirter discussed with the cauncil ways af
trying to eliminate the water fram seeping into the water treatment
glant p�mp room and who was responsible for this conditi�n existing.
Mr. McWhirter gave the council same prices he had from contractars
who proposed to place a bn drain pipe in gravel about one faot under
the concrete footing, these prices ran fram �2, 240 ta 2,250.00 for
doing the work. Mayor Jahnson had a proposal fram Grimes Construction
Co. to do this vTork far �1 ,3t.�.Zi-.QO for instal2ing 9bt af b`� perft�rated
French drai.n, one foot below footing of wall , covered with two
fect of wash rc�ck, Mr. Nichols advised this was the best way he
knew of ta try and stop the water, also he would not guarantee this
to do it, but was the b�st way he knew of, also �te advised that
it might be a good idea to not run the plant un'�il this water could
be controlled. He advised th�t the plant was not designed to take
care of this water prob2em as their test showed� evidence of
� water until about 6 weeks ago. �.
A rnotion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Aldenman Hayward to
suspend the aperation af the p2ant unti2 the water problerr� is
elimit�ated. Motian carried. '

Freese, Nichols and Endress agreed ta help the city on the cost
of installing the drain pipe in the amount of $7,�0.00, but Mr.
. Nichols sta ted that his company did nat legally accept any ;
re�ponsibility for the water seepage, but he felt as a moral �
t�b2igati4n to the city that his campany wou].d pay �7�Q,a4 of the
cost to help carrect the water condition« He also stated that if
this did not solve the problem, that his compaay wou2d h�ve no
further financial responsibility in the matter.
A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderman Kaker to accept
Bob ichols proposal to pay �750.p0 plus the engineering supervision �
and'"�� ha2d his firm responsible for any further responsibility 4
on the water seepage at the water treatment plant. Motion

Fire Chief Greener gave his report to the cauncil on the attendance =:
of the firemants reporting ta fires and meet ngs. He has three
mert wha have nat complied with the City and �tate requirements �;
for attending fires artd meetings. They are B�rran Cax, Herbert �
Bible, and Ed. Vinson. �

A motion by Alderman Harwell , seconded by Alderman Deacon to dismiss
these three men from the Fire Department for not complying with
State and City requirements. Secretary will write each man a letter
informing him of this. Motfon carried .
A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Deacon to authorize ;
a Chaplin for the Fire Department who will be required to make
Fire meeting but who will not be required to make all of the fires.
By doing this the Chaplin will have all o� the privileges of the other
Firem�n. Motion carried.
A mot3on by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Hayward to recend
and re�ject the bids of g
a Gler��& Briggs on the Floor Covering. And also to
accept and award the bid

vinyl asbestos floor tile to be awarded for �590.L�.l�. Motion carried.
A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Deacon to accept
the bids of St�ne & Co, for a 6 ton G. E. Air Conditioner with a
BN rating of 72,000. The Heating unithas a 175,000 BTU rating.
For the cost of �2,025.00. Repairing and closing the opening in the
back of the building and replastering to match existing plaste.r
for $365.00 by J. T. Maynart. And other items to be negotiated at �he
'`� proper time. Motion carried.
A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Hayward to authorize
Texas Power and Light Co. to install the proposed 2!� Street Lights,
useing 295Watt lamps, f or the Silver Lake �A��x� Park Area and the p
cost of operation will be payed from the Park Fund. Motion carried. _

Li'$�ussion w$� given on annexing County Road 3059 from Highway 114
across the Grapevine Dam to the Denton County Line. A motion by �
' Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Matthews to tab�e this until
further study could be given on this proposal . Motion carried.

City Attorney was to review the Corp of Engineers and City of Grapevine �'
agreement lease in regard to the city furnis��ng water to Silver ;
Lake Enterprises cabins now under construct�c�n. �

The Oath of Office was taken by Dr. Ira Woods for Place #4, L. W. `
Parker for Place #3, and Wi1lisPirkle for Place #5. The Uath of �
Office was adminfster by the Mayor and the new Alderman took their �
places as new Alderman for the City of Grapevine.

Mr. Joe Box discussed with the council the possibilities of
Falcon Manufacturing Co. locating here in Grapetidne. The company is
now boking at the site �ust north of the railroad along Highway 111� �
� �ust north of Wickes Lumber Co. The plant would be approximately `
0,000 square feet of floor area, and plan to employ 110 to 120 �,
persons. Mr. Box ask ,just what the city could do on furnishing °
water, sewer, and street for this area if it is brough� into the �
City Limits of Grapevine. The City advised Mr. Box they would try ��
to come up with an answer 'for him so he may continue his negotiatinns �
with this Company. �

Secretary was to contact other cities in this area and see ,�ust
how each of th� cities har�dles their water, sewer and streets fc�r
industries p2anning to loc�te ir� thefr area.
Freese, Nicho3s, and Fndress, consulting engineers, was ta be
contacted and see urhat they would reccomend on sewer ser�rice to
th£s area and the approximate cost.
A motion by Alderman Deacon, seconded by Alderrnan Harwell to
authorize the �Iayor and City Secretary ta sign the checks for the
City of Grapevine . Motion carried.
A Mo�ian by Alderman Harwell, seconded by Alderman k'irkle to
appafnt Floyd Deacon as Mayor Pra-tem. Mation carried,
