The City Council met in regular session on the ab4ve date with
the following members present, Mayor Johnson, Aldermen Harwell ,
Waads, Pirk2e, Parker, and Deacon.
The minutes af the previ�us meetings was read and apgrov�d as read.
Mr. Martin of the Martin Foundation was present to ask what his
cost would be for water, sewer, and garbage service for his pro�ect.
He estirm ted that the maximum amount of water he would use would
be about 39b acre feet per year ar 231 mi2lion gallons, which wou2d
be ab�ut 11 m311ion gallans per month average. The council advised
Mr. Martin that they w�uld hav� to give same study to this and he
wauld be advised in the next few days of the cost. Mr. Martin also
advised if it taok ad@itiona2 capital improvements he was wil2ing
ta amorti2e the cost over a period of years.
Mr, Jerry Jordan and several others asked the council for their
fut�re plans for recreatidnal areas and parks that �ay be ��ticipated
by th� City that might include a base ball 'fie2d. They explained
t� th� council the need far � base ball field f�r the younger kids.
2he present field will not accommadate the pr�sent number of
y��ngster� now taking part in the base ball program.
The council advised Mr. Jordan to meet with the 2oea1 schoo2 board
a�d see what their plans are for recreation areas, �tc. and if the
schoo2 had no pla�s for a base ball fie2d then the �ay�r and Mr.
Jardan could go and talk with Mr. Davis of the Corps of Engineers
about lc�cating a field in the SiLer Lake Yark area.
The cpunci2 talked with the Garbage men about improving the garbage
pick-up service in tawn.
A motion by Alderman Harwell to increase James Barnes sa2ary �2,�.00
per month and put him in t�harge c�f the garbage �ervice and inerease
Mr. Waiker and Mr. Terre2l sa2ry �iS.aO per month, seccanded by
Alderman Woods, Motiin carried.
James Bar'nes asked that the City sell him the north lOt of the alley
sauth af his place crn N. Main S�reet. The alley is 2fl � in width
and a water line goes down the south side of the alley.
The water plant was discussed and the quality af water that fs now
being produced. The council decided to operate the filtratto n �
phnt �. hours a day, five days a week artd to aperate the wells the
remaining time. Alsa other chemicals are to be used sa as to �
imgrove on th.e hardiness af the water, Bu using other chemica2s
the ha rdiness may be reduced some.

A letter from the school in reference to assessing personal
property tax �s for the year was discussed. The school has hired
Mr. Ehrenborg of Dallas to assess all personal property �ax for
the school district including all city property at a cost of
�1 ,200.00, the school has suggested the city take part in this
on a 60/40 basis, the school paying 60� and the city 40� of this
cos t.
The council authorized the Mayor to try and work out an agreement
with the school on a 30/70 basis, school paying 70% and the city
paying 30%, if the school is havrtng all personal property taken
in the entire school district, farms, Colleyville, etc. .
A motion by Alderman Deacon to write the school and explain th�
cha nge in operation of the public Library and see if they will
share part of the expense in operati�n on a 60/40 ba��s, City
paying 60% of the cost and the school payirtg 40% of the cost.
This was arrived at by about 60� of the circulation of the Library
is used by the citi2ens within the City Limits of Grapevine and
the remaining 40� of the circulation i� outside of the City.
This was seconded by Alderman Harwell , moti�n carried.
