HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-09-18 Regular Meeting �eptem�er 18, 19b2 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Johnenn, Aldermen Harwell , Woods, Parker, Pirkle , and Deacon. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read . J. C. Greener and other firemen were rr�sent asking the City Council to place "No Parking'� signs on the south side of fire station and the �ast side of the fire station so as to permit the firmens to have a p�ace to park thetr cars when answering a fire cal�s. A motion by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Pirkle to prohibit parking on the South and East side of the Fire Station, and authorizing the Police Department to place "No Parking`' signs on the south and east side of the Fire Station, as per Resolution No. R62-4, motion earried. The two hour parking on Main street between Franklin and Wall streets will be enforced as of October 1 , 1962. The police department will be informed to enforce this ordinance. Also a notice will be placed in the Gr�pevine Sun advising people of this. Discussion was given on hiring a person to clean the City Hall and Fire Statian by the month. Representatives from Texas Power d Co. , Lone Star Gas Co. , Southwestern States Telephone, and Mr. Gene Schrickel and Mr. Bradford planning consultants were present to discuss the City of Grapevine having a Master plan made. Texas Power & Light Co. and �outhwestern States Telephone Co. agreed to take part in the expense of this project. A motion by Alderman Woods, seconded by Alderman Parker to contact several other planning consultants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and ask them to submit a proposal under this 701 program offered by the State and Federal governments. Motion carried. :41so copies of the 701 plan was to be secured for the council to review and study before going into this program so as to determine the requirements of the Federal and State govern�ents. Mr. John Davis of Texas Power � Light Co. discussed the new type of street light that T. P.L, recommends now. ��This light has a plastic sheild aronnd the bulb and also uses a ��� Watt lamp. ather cities using this new lamp have been wa►11 pleased with it. A motion by A1dErman Harwell , seconded by �lderman Deacon to replace the existing street light at the corner of Franklin and Smith street �3th the new type light and also install the new type light at the corner of Lovers Lane and East Dallas Rd. and at the corner of Easy Street and East l�llas Rd. motinn carried. 1 � • _.�,,, New Meetinca Lime for the Council meeting will begin at 7:00 P.M and ' try to dismiss at 10:00 !'.M. each meeting night. A motion by Alderman Harwell, seconded by Alderman Parker to raise Jesse Williamson salary from $300.00 to �33o.0U per month, aiso raise Lynn Hanna salary from �325.00 to �350.00 per month effective �ctober 1, 1962. Motion carried. The City agreed to accept bids on resurfacing We�t College street from Ball Street to Ridge Road, Ridge Road from West College street to Wall Street, Drexel Dr. f rom College street to Surrey Lane, Surrey Lane fram Drexel Dr. to Ball stre�t, and Nash street from the new South I�!ain extension to Terrell street. And additional ; work to be done at the south end of Yine street to help wth the drainage on this street. A rnotion by Alderman Harwell, seconded by Alderman Deamn to accept the amended budget for 1962-63. Also the tax roll for 1962 in the amount of �6,682,570,00 was certified.as correct. Copy of the budget attached. Motion carried. upen house for the City Hall and Fire Station was discussed and a date to hold this open honse will be set in uctober 19b2 when arrangements have been completed.
