HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-04-16 Regular Meeting �. r , r� � µ ' ♦ ��. � . 9 ( ` f April 16, 1963 The City Couneil met in regular session on the above date those present were € Mayor Johnson, Aldermen Parker, Pirkle, Harwell, and Deacon. �' The council met with the incoming members of the City Council, members frcm the Chamber of Commerce, members of the Zoning Committee, and members of the School Board and Mr. Stanphill, Industrial Consultant, T�xas Pawer & Light Co. , in reference to an industry that is intere�ted in moving into the City of Grapevine. The industry is to buiId a building of approximately 104,500 Sq. Ft. with a minimum of 265 employees to begin with. This is the Murdock Machine Co. of Wichita, Kansas, a subsidiary of Crane Engineering Co. of Tulsa Oklahoma. The council told Mr. Stanphill they wanted this industry in the city and would make the following concessions if the Company would agree on a site suitable to the City of Grapevine. 1. The first year the Machine Co, would be exempt from Real and Personal property tax and if the plant oper�tion begins after the lst day of January they would have the remainin g part of th�t year free of Ctty Tax. 2. For the next four (4) years the tax assessment for real property be 27� of the 100%a valve on the Capital Investment. In lieu of the present 54�. 3. Personal property tax F►ould be assessed 279�0 of the 100� valve on the normal inventory and excluding all �ob material for these �sar=x four years. Mr. Stanphill felt as if this would be a step forward in securing or persuading this factory to move to Grapev�ne. The Mayor submitted the resignatimn of Jaaes L. Hancock, water superintendent, to the council for approval . (Resignatimn Attached) The Oath of Office Was given to the Mayor and Aldermen elect by Mayor Johnson. Dr. Ira E. Woods took the oath of office as Mayor C. W. Vandeven�Eter took the oath of office as Adlerman Herbert Huber took the oabh of office as Alderman Guy S. Benedict took the oath of office as Alderman After receiving 8he oath of office the new council took over the council seats from the retiring Mayor Johnsnn, and Alderman Harwell and Deacon.
