HomeMy WebLinkAbout1963-07-01 Regular Meeting �� Juiy 1 , 1963 The City C�uncil met in regular session on the above date thoee present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. The committee appcinted to study the Police Department and the claim of Mr. Ray Waters re�vorted they could not find any infor- mation in the minutes or elsewhere to support the claim of Mr. Wa�er s. Alderman Pirkle made a motion, seconded by Alderman Benedict to re�ject the claim of Mr. Ray Waters in the amount of �125.00. Motion carried by �ldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker voting yes with no noes. Mr. Scofield, City Httorney, advised that all annexations prior � to October 1962 had been confirmed by the State Legislature on �` May 24, 1963. The Attorney was to draw up a sample petition to present to the property owners along the Tarrant and Dallas County line for the owners to petition the city to be brought into the extra territorial limits of the �ity of �rapevine. k This would mean that they would not have to pay city taxes but would�protect them from other cities annexing them and that only the City of Grapevine would annex them when they petition to come in under the General Laws of the State of Texas. Myor Woods appointed Aldermen Parker and Pirkle to contact the propest� owners about this. Proposals from Freese, Nichols , and Endress consulting engineers and Henningson, Durham and Richardson Engineers and Planners was presaZted to the conncil fcr the preparation of a Master Plan f o r t he C�.y o f G rap ev i ne . ����i�CRXi�X�X�(�ffiX�LXdi�(�CX�IaC}C3��t- ��(X� Alderman Benedict made a motion, seconded by A1dePman Pirkle to defer the selection of a Planner until the next meeting , July 16, 1963. Motion carried by AlelErmen Pirkle, Benedict, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes, with no noes. Mr. Martin of the United Interstate Equipment Co. ask that his company be paid the original price that was quoted on his bid for the Fire Apparatus equipment in the amount of �l�,260.00. Mr. Martin had told the council that the price would be �300.00 e less if the same engineering could be used on the city truck � as he had used on another truck similar to this one. Alderman � Pirkle made a motion, seconded by Alderraan Benedict to pay Mr. Martints company the original price for the fire apparatus < as he had quoted on his written bid. Motion carried by �lderman Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, and Vandeventer voting yes with Alderman Parker voti ng no. � � }: � � � Mr. Bert Huber f rom Dallas discussed an insurance plan for the city employees ��th the council. Mayor Woods informed Mr. Huber that the city had a similar insurance plan that the city and employees were now participating in and that he had in mind an insurance for the city similar to Workmen�s compensation. Mayor Woods recommended to the Police committee that they cvnsider hiring an additional man for the Police department and recomend Mr. Floyd Gray. The committe ask f or more time to complete their studies, but at the present they would not recommend to the caurtcil at this time to hire an additi�nal man for the Police department. The proposed budget for 1963-1964 was gone over and each councilman was given a copy of the propc�ed budget to study.
