The City Council met in regular session on the above date those
present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, and
Vapdeventer with filderman Parker being abset�t.
The minutes of the previous meetings was read and apprwed as read.
Mayor Woods explained that he talked wit�i the owner and the estimater .
of Penner and Cheney, Inc. of 1502 East ancaster , Ft. Worth, Texas.
In reference to why they did not bid on the ,job of reworking the
cityts 'overhead water storage tank, they informed the Mayor that they
did receive from Freese, Nic ho2s, and Endress a copy of the plans
and specifications for this ,�ob but that they were busy and that
they did not have the personnel to do the ,job at this time and that
workers were hard to get to do this kind of work.
City Attorney, Robert 'Scofield , was instructed to study the City �s
responsibility when a City water line breaks and causes damages to
some one property. Mr. Scofield advised that the city could not be
held responsible for plumbing bills incurred on private property if
the Cityts main sewer line stops up. �

A motion by Alderraan Benedict, seconded by Alderman Huber to adopt ����
an amendment tv Ordina nce #61-20 in reference to water rat�s for '
apartments and trailor parks when three or more ap�rtments or trailor
house �s are served thru a single meter. Motion carried by Alderman
BenediCt, Pirkle, Huber and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Huber to turn
the collection of a bortd signed by Mr. Cluck and Mr. Bragg overto
the attorney for collection. Motion carried by Hldermen Benedict,
Pirkle, Huber and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
Discussion was� given by the counci 1 and Mr. Hall and Mr. Scruggs in
refernce to hiring an additonal patrolman for the Police Department.
A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderr�an Huber, to have
City Secretary to begin accepting applications for an additiona2
policeman. Motion carried by Alderman BenediCt, Pirkle , and
Vandeventer voting yes with Hlderman Pirkle voting no.
A motion by Alderman Bened�tct, seconded by Alderman Huber to
accept Fresse; Nichols, and Endress Engineers, recomendation on
repairing and repainting the water tower of hiring Water Tank
Service Company of Dallas, Texas for the total sum of �5,240.00.
Mo'�on carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkl4, Huber and Vandeventer
voting yes with no noes.

Bids ware received as per city�s specifications on buying a 1964
model car to be used as a patrol car in the Police department and
are as fol.lows: '

A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by tilderman Huber to buy
the 1964 Ford fr� Ted Arendale F�rd Sa1es for �1 ,075.31. Motion
carried by Aldermen Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle, and Benedict voting
yes with no noes. Color to be lighter or the same as 1963 Ford car.
A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Huber to
authori2 e Texas Power & Light Co. to change out the 189 watt street
iight on the corner of Smith and Texas street to a Mercury vapor
light. Motio n carried by �lderman Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle,
and Aened i ct voti ng ye s wi th no noe s.
A motion by Hlderman Benedict, seconded by Pirkle to hire a tax
appraiser for the year 1964 to assess the new additions and new
territory that has been taken into the city and to work with the
school in selectin� a man to work for the city and school so that
the�,°valuations will be the same. Motion carried by Aldermen
Benedict, Pirk1Q, Huber and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
A petition for annex�tion was presented to the council by Mr. Jack
C"'in and wife to annex approximately 7 acres of land.
A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderm Vandventer to
annex Jack Cain �s property by Ordinance # 63-17� Motion carried
by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle , Huber and Vandeventer voting yes with
no noes.
A motion by �lderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Huber to give
each regular City employee a NAM for Christmas as a token of
appreciation for the years work that each employee has contributed
to the City. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber
and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Benedict to
adopt Resoluti�n R63-14, and that a copy of the resolution be
sent to the County Commissioners Cou�t as stateing that the
cou�ty be asked to contribute or furnish office space for the
Justice of the Peace and st�ggesting that the School Tax Office
Building on Barton street be consider as this building is large
enough to hold court in, etc. Motinn carried by Al�ermen
Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle, and Benedict voting yes with no noes.
