HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-07-07 Regular Meeting� July 7, 1964 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Benediet, Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker. Minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. The Planning 8 2oning Board recommended to the Council that the zoning on Lots 1 , 2, and 3 of Block 3 of the Box Addition be changed from "A" Dwelling to "B" Dwelling. A moti�n by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Benedict to accept the 2oning Boards recommendation and change the zon3��ig on Lots 1, 2, and 3 in Block 3 of the Box Addition from "A" Dwelling to "B" Dwelling. Motion caQried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer , Huber, Pirkle, and Benedict voting yes with no noes. , A moti�n by Alderman Huber, secmnded by Alderman Benedict to table the matter of abandoning th� stre�t that runs North and Sotith betweea Peach and Hall street until more information could be obtained on this matter. Motion carried by Aldermen Beoedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker votiag yes with no noes. Mrs Ann Carlson requested the council to consider the opening of a recreation center for the youth of our community in her building at !}12 South Main street, now occupied by Ann Carlson Real Eatate. A motion by Alderman Benedict, seconded by Alderman Parker to ask the proposed operator of the recr�ation center to meet with the council at the next regular me�ting, July 21, 1964, and explain the proposed operation of the recreation center. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Fire Department will observe th� rules of not allowing unauthorized personnel to ride itit�xRtxa or operate the Fire Equipment. < A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to adopt and approved the proposed sp�ed zone Ordinance No. 64-15 reducing t�e speed along Highway 121 from the intersection of Highway Loop 382 Northeasterly. Complete Ordinance on file in the Official Ordinance Book of the City of Grapevine. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Banedict voting yes with no noes. A Maintenance Agreement between the State Highway �epartment and the City, reference to the maintertance of State Highways inside the City Limits of Grapevine was read and discussed. �� A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to approve the Maintenance Agreement with the State and pass and adopt Ordinance 61�-16 authoriz,ing the agreement. Motioa carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Complete Ordinance and agree�nt on file in the official Ordinance Book of the City of Grapevine. Council ask that a letter be written to the State Highway Department asking them to make a traffic survey along Main street so as to determine the need for traffic signal lights at the intersection of College and Main and the intersectinn of Wall and Main street. Council decid�d to keep the Asphalt Maintenance Distributor thrat the City now owns for the present. This is the piece of equipment that Mr. Earl Jordan bid �400.00 for. A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Benedict to adopt and pass Ordinance 64-17 provding for the approval of the agreement between the State and City for installatioq, coastruction , existence, use, operation and Maintenance of Highway signal pro,ject on the intersection of Highway 114 and Loop 382. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Complete Ordinance and agreement on file in the Official Ordinance Book of the Ci ty of Grapevine. A motion by Alderman Pirkl�, seconded by Aiderman Benedict to adopt and pass Resolution R64-9, estimating the current population at I�,659 persons now inside the City Limits of Grapevine. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer, and Parker voting yes wi th no noe s. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer to accept application for an additional man for the Police Department. Motion carried by Aidermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Benedict to pass and adopt Resolution R64-10 authori2ing the erection of Stop signs at the intersectiQn of E. Franklin and Dooley, making this a four way stop, stopping on each side of the streets. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Pirg�e, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes wt2i no noes.
