The City Council met in regular session on the above date �fter due
notice had been given and a notice posted in the City Hall Lobby
Bull�tin Board of changing this one regular meeting from July 21, 1964
to July 14, 1964. Those preser�t were Mayor Woods, Nld�rmen Benedict,
Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker.
The miqutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read.
A motion by Hlderman Parker, seconded by Alderman Benedict not to
abandon or close the north portionof Barton street between Hall and
Peach street at this time . Motion carried by Aldermen Parker,
Vandeventer, Huber, Pirgle and Benedict voting yes with no noes.
Bids were received for a two-ton truck to replace the present 1961
chevrolet now being used in the sanitatinn department and are as
follows:
Hudiburg Chevrolet Inc.
1 - 1965 Chevrolet truck as per specification be delivered
by the middle of September 196l�, less the �rade in of
1961 Chevrole t. Net Cost �2,410.21}
Ted Arendale Ford Sales
1-1964 Ford truck as per specification less trade in of
19b1 Chevrolet. Net Cost �2,250.00
Kliff GmC Truck Co.
1-TWo ton GMC truck with a V-6 Engine : less trade in of
1961 Chevrolet Truck. Net Cost $2, 13?.46
1-'IWo ton GMC truck with Diesel Engine less trade in
of 1961 Chevrolet Truck. Net Cost $3,525.01
No acti�m was taken on these bids at this time.
City Attorney Scofield read some correspondence that he had with '
the attorney of Mr.s Webster, owner of Lakewood Acres Addition, in
reference to the streets in that area.
The council agreed that the proposed streets for Lakewood A�res had
not been comp�eted and had not been approved as completed city streets. '
A motion by Alderman Huber, seconded by Alderman Vandeventer, seconded
by Alderman to hire Mr. Alfonzo English to work in the water, sewer,
and street department at a starting salary of $300.00 per month beginn-
ing July 16th, 196t�. Motion carried by Alderman Parker, Pirkle, Huber,
Be�edict, and Vandeventer voting yes with no noes.
A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Benedict to authorize
the Police employees to install their own Air Conditibner in one of the
Police cars if they pay the cost of installation and up-ke�P of the
Air Conditioner. Motion carried by Alderman Parker, 1f'ndeventer, Huber,
Pirkle and Benedict vot�rng yes with no noes.
