HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-09-01 Regular Meeting Septembwr 1, 1964 The City Council met in regular session on the above date those present were Mayor Woods, Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle , Huber, Vandeventer and Parker. The minutes of the previous meeting was read and approved as read. Mr. Charles N. Linehan was interviewed by the council for the position of police patrolman in the police department . A motion by Alderman Parker, seconded by Alderman Benedict to employ Mr. Linehan at a starting salary of $325.00 per month for the first three months and if he and the city are satisfied he will be raised to $350.00 per month plus a $10.00 per month uniform allowance. Motion carried by Alderman Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and a enedict voting yes with no noes. Mr. William Howard was interviewed by the council for a positbn in the Water, Sewer, and Street department. A motion by Alderman Pirkle, seconded by Alderman Huber to employ Mr. Howard in the water, sewer and street department at a starting salary of $300.00 per month on a trail basis for three months. Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirlile, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Huber to raise Geo. Dearing salary $10.00 per month and to furnish uniforms for the water, sewer, and street department. Motion carried by Aldermen Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, - Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. A motion by Alderman Vandeventer , seconded by Alderman Parker to raise Hamp Scruggs salary $10.00 per month. Motion carried by Aldermen Parker, Vandeventer, Huber, Pirkle and Benedict voting yes with no noes. Effective October 1 , 1964. A motion by Alderman Pirkle , seconded by Alderman Benedict to adopt the proposed Budget of which the summary of expenditures and incomes is attached, in the total of $224,315. 16, with a tax assessed valuation of $7, 162,714.00 using a $1.00 tax rate per $100.00 valuation for the year 1964-65. Motion carried by Alderman Benedict, Pirkle, Huber, Vandeventer and Parker voting yes with no noes. The complete Budget is on file in the office of the City Secretary.
