HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-08-16 Regular Meeting August 16, 1960 The City Council of the Cit� of Grapevine met in regular session on the above date in the City Hall of Grapevine. 1"he following members were present: Mayor Tip Johnson, Alderman A1 Harwell , Harold Kaker, Tr'avis Matthews, Floyd Deacon and Ed. Hayward, �ith City 5ecretary F1oy Eze11, Water �uperintendent Jim Hancock, Mr. Bob Nichols of Free2e, Nichols & Endress Engineers and Mr. Frank Mednich of the First Southwest Co. . Mr. A. G. Simmons wishes to Re-Zone his property on East Wa11 St. Lots 28D2, also the East 100t of lot 28D�, also West 100f of lot 281�, and a2so the South Half of lot 28D1 , all in the A. F. Leonard Survey, of the Eity of Grapevine. Mr. �immons would like to re-zone his property from C-Resident to G-Business. This will be handled in the regular manner to conform with City Ordinance No. 55-6 dated 2 day of August 1955. In reference to mowing vacant lots at the corner of Texas Street and Main St. , also weeds growi�g behind McNutt �s Pharmacy which creates a Fire Hazard to the City of Gra�evine. Mr. McNutt to be notified by letter to have these lots cleaned before action will ' be taken by the City to mow and clean these lots and charge the �' expense of cleaning and mowing to the property owner, �r. McNutt. ; Reference to Ordinance No. 5�-13 dated 20th day of July 1954• A �otion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Deacon to recend order of having the alley parelleling Main Street on the West, this being the alley of Southeast corner of Block 14 in the Grapevine Survey opened. The motion carried by a unanimous vote. � The property owners involved are Mr. V. T. Harstvn, Mr. W. C. Tate, and Mr. A. E. Tucker, Jr. A letter requesting th at the alley not be opene� was received by the ma�ority of the property owners. The City will take necessary legal action to sell or % dispose of this alley and also the alley across the street this ' being in Block 27 of the Grapevine Survey. _ The Texas Highway Department Maintenance contract was tabled for further investigation. Also the problem of the drait�age at the corner of Main Street and Hudgins 5treet this being State Highway �` 121 ta be left for the Texas Highway Department and 1VIr. V. T. � Harston Grocery to work this out as the S��ite Highway Department has controll of the maintenance of the Highways, this was done by t ; a �notion by a motion Aldermar� Kaker, seconded by Alderman ; Harwell , motion carried. ` Mr. Joe Lucas Wright was given permission to move a garage from � �mf�h and College streets to Lipscomb Drive , as th? building to be moved was valved at �50.00 whch requires no fee: This wss done � by a motion b� Alderman Deacon, seconded by Aiderman Hayward, motion carried. fi � t � t ,� � , � � � �' � Garbage Coliector Mr. H. D. Thornpsoa was ta be written a letter � informing him to be more efficient in collecting the trash and garbage in the city as the city has had severaZ complaints on the collectian of the garbage. Alderman Deacon was to contact the peopie in the Reed Addition and see if they would be interested in coming into the City of Grapevine. City Secretrry was to contact Mr. Ge,orge Tuttle of the Grapevine �3 �chool in reference to having a �oi�t meetingof the City Council and the School Board to discuss the City and the School having � their tax roll appraised by the firm of Mr. A. B. Capers of Hurst, Texas. '' A motion by Alderman Kaker, seconded by Aldeerman Deacon to � adopt the following ordinance, motion carried. AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING F�R THE LEVY AND COLLECTION OF AN AD VALOREM TAX ON PROPER`�Y SITUATED WITHIN THE CORPORATE � LIMITS OF THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, ON THE lst DAY k OF JANUARY, 1�60, EXCEPT SUCH PROPFRTY AS MAY BE EXEMPT FROM TAXATION BY THE CONSTITUTION AND STATETES OF THE � STATE OF TEXAS; PRESCRIBING A DELIIVQUENT DATE; AND SETTING � THE RATE OF PENALTY AND INTEREST ON DELINQUENT TAXES. � The cvmplete ordinance is filed in the ordinance book as ordinance ° nurnber 60-3. � City discussed the possibilities of extending the sewer lines to ¢ serve the area west of Delwood Acres by contacting Cameron Lumber ,_ and pay them the difference of putting in a 8" at a additional f depth in the place of the 6" line they propose to put into � Delwood Drive. Mr. Bob Nichols was to give the City a break down on the additional cost by letter. � � � � k � � � � � � � The subject of black topping the city streets of Grapevine was discussed , and no monies to be spent on the State Hiqhways through the City. Concrete Asphalt was to be put on the m$�n streets or the streets traveled most and a two coarse asphalt was to be put on the other streets or the streets having the least amount of traffic on them. The City accepted a 15 year bond schedule for a $200,000.00 bond issue election to be called.
