The City Council met in a call session aL the B. & D. Mills
Offices on the above date . Those present were Mayor Tip �ohnson,
Aldermen Harold Kaker , Travis Matthews, A1 Harwell , Floyd Deacon,
and Ed. Hayward. Also Mr. Bob Nichols of the the Freese, Nichols,
Endress Consulting Engineers.
The walks , curbs, and the steps around the new Post Office Building
on Texas street was discussed with Mr. Bob Nichols.
The Mayor gave the council the approximate cost of rep�ring our
str2ets in the city with concrete asphalt and with a two coarse
pe�tration as per State Highway Department specificatian. He had
several tenative bids from several companies that do street work
their prices included an average cost per foot , using an average
figure of 27 � wide for the streets and requiring . 3 per foot cf
base material on the streets. The cost of concrete asphalt ranged
from ��.90 to �3. 10 per foot, the two coarse pentr� tion ranoed in
price from �2.40 to �2. ►�5 per foot , these prices excluded any
repairs or cost of wat�r lines th�t mioht be damaqed in working
the streets.
The streets set as "Main Streets't or the streets carrying most of
the traffic was to be concrete asphalt, and the streets with '
; � less traffic to be a 2 coarse pentration. The following was set '
for concrete asphalt:

A motion by Alderman Hayward , seconded by Alderman Deacon to adopt
this schedule for concrete asphalting the above streets with
necessary amendments that might arise, motion carried.
It was agreed upon ta let two contracts for this concrete asphalt
� work to our streets.

work any drainage problem that mi.�ht arise.

A motion by Al�erman Kaker, seconded by Alderman Deacon to have
h",ayor Johnson and Water Superintendent Jim Hancack to look at �
Street equipment ,which the City wauld need tc� maintain their
streets, which would include a rc�Iler, broom, and a aspha2t pat, �;
and if they see fit to purcha�e this equipment, they are �
av.thori.zed tc� buy this equipment for the City, matian carried.
An ar�icle was ta be wr�tten and put in the Grappvine Sun
informing the people th�t wants curbs and gu��ers on their ,
pragerty to have this dan� befare the work on the streets begin, ��
They are to submit their request in writting to the Eity �
Secretary, with the following information. number of feet of �
curb and location of property, driveway, etc. at a eost of
�1 .25 per running foot. The curbs are to be 2!�" wide, "vrith
3 bars of stee2 , with a b't rol2 an the curb. Also to inform
the pecbple the advantages to them for putting drain 3�i���� tile ,
in for their driveurays and walks from the street if they do
do not have curb & guttersto protect their property and the
streets in front of their propert�r from washing.
