HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960-09-29 Special Meeting September 29, 1960 The City Council met in a call session aL the B. & D. Mills Offices on the above date . Those present were Mayor Tip �ohnson, Aldermen Harold Kaker , Travis Matthews, A1 Harwell , Floyd Deacon, and Ed. Hayward. Also Mr. Bob Nichols of the the Freese, Nichols, Endress Consulting Engineers. The walks , curbs, and the steps around the new Post Office Building on Texas street was discussed with Mr. Bob Nichols. The Mayor gave the council the approximate cost of rep�ring our str2ets in the city with concrete asphalt and with a two coarse pe�tration as per State Highway Department specificatian. He had several tenative bids from several companies that do street work their prices included an average cost per foot , using an average figure of 27 � wide for the streets and requiring . 3 per foot cf base material on the streets. The cost of concrete asphalt ranged from ��.90 to �3. 10 per foot, the two coarse pentr� tion ranoed in price from �2.40 to �2. ►�5 per foot , these prices excluded any repairs or cost of wat�r lines th�t mioht be damaqed in working the streets. The streets set as "Main Streets't or the streets carrying most of the traffic was to be concrete asphalt, and the streets with ' ; � less traffic to be a 2 coarse pentration. The following was set ' for concrete asphalt: Nash from S. Ball to Bellaire Dr. Va1leyVista Terrace Dr. BLllaire Dr . from W. Dallas Rd, to S. Ball 5outh Hill St. We st Hange r St. Vine from S. Ball to S. Pine Pine from Vine to the end, south South Airline from Vine to the end, south. Worth 'St. from Church to the east end Franklin from Main to Avstin Texas from Main to Dooi�y Wa 11 f r om Ma d�n t o SH 1 14 E. Texas from Ruth to east end. Dooley from NW Hwy to Dallas Rd. N. Niai n from NW Hwy to north City Limits Lucas from NW Hwy to Lipscomb A motion by Alderman Hayward , seconded by Alderman Deacon to adopt this schedule for concrete asphalting the above streets with necessary amendments that might arise, motion carried. It was agreed upon ta let two contracts for this concrete asphalt � work to our streets.
