The Grapevine City Council met in a call meetin� Novemt�er the 3rd, 1959
with the following members pr_esent : Rodney Shelton, Doil Da�ton, !
Harola Kaker and I�'orris Graham.—�1lderman �11 Harwell was absent, '�
meeting with the Co� ncil, A��ayor Tip Johnson and City S�cretary ',
R. F. Rogers.
Sever�l sealed bids were on hand for the �radin� a.nd park improvement ,
Tip Johnson bid on the job ��ut made a statement to the board before the i
opening of the bids that he woulc� withdra�n� ;�is bid if the Council ;
so desired. Nir. Kaker said he wanted to �o on record that he had the I
utnloct confidence in hir. Johnsons sincerity of purpose in his efforts ;
to save th� City tax paye.rs in any way he can, and thai; he felt Mr. j
Johnson should be allowed to bid on the job under the same rules �
that governed the other bidciers. The other memL�ers of the board all �
heartily a�rre�,�d 100%o. �

that four sealed hids hatl t�een t�-rned in to him at the City otfice. ;

A letter from �reeze & Nichols w�s read on the surject of the lift
pump on Jean street , s�-me reccomendations were macle by the en�ineers
which the board feels urill somewhat correct the t.rouble there. T"he
sug�estion was made to instruct Supe�tiender�t of water department
�ames Hancock to inspect the a_�ove plant as often as Ilecessary,
so as to preven� over flow of sewa:,e on property adjacent tt�ere to.
A motion was made by Alderman •`�aker seconded by Norris Graham to hold
up contract joh of boring under Highway by Lyons construction Co.
temporairly. The Lqons Co. are aslcinr� an a�.ditional amount of funds
due t� the states dem�nds, "see letter�"� all voted yes.
