' Special meeing of the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas ',
was held on February 18 , 1958, with the following members present: ,
Mayor Joe D. �71ark; Aldermen Doil Dalton, R. T. Eidson, Norris L.
Graham, Wm. H. Kaker, & R. F. Shelton; Secretary Hugh Millican. '

A Resolution calling an election for the purpose of selecting ( R58-2)
!I three aldermen for place 3, 4, b 5 on April 1 , 1958, was pre-
' sented for adoption. Alderman Eidson moved the adoption of
the Resolution and Alderman Shelton seconded the motion which
passed by vote . ( Complete copy follows)
Alderman Eidson moved the adoption of the following motion: (M58-13)
That A. L. Richardson be placed on the inactive status of
the Police Department as he requested and that he be allowed
to retain his uniform for use at times of assistance to the
Police Department But that he receive no compensation for
these services except by approval of the City Council . ,
Motion was seconded by Alderman Kaker and passed by vote. !,

Alderman Kaker moved that a replacement be secured for the (r�58-lI})
vas�ancy in the Police Department; said replacement shall be ��
selected by the Public Safety and Personr�el Committees for
a probationary period of three months. Motion seconded by
Alderman Dalton and passed.

Alderman Eidson moved that the City allow a warrant charge (M58-15)
of $ 10.00 per warrant to be paid non-city personnel who
serve warrants issued by Corporation o�3r ; said warrant
�; charge shall be added to fines and other court costs in the ,
� case involving said warrant,� Motion was seconded by Alderman I
� Kaker and passed.

! Alderman Graham moved that the City Secretary advertize for (M58-lb)
bids for the sale of the canning plant lot; said bids are
to be received in his office not later than 4:00 p.m. ,
i February 24, 1958, but the Council reserves the right to
G re,ject all bids and negotiate for sale of the lot if no
i satisfaetory bids are received. Motion seconded by Alder-
^ man Shelton and passed.

; Discussion of water problems pertaining to securing water (M58-17) '
from Grapevine Lake, construction of a filter plant, its
costs, present and future water rate structures, po5sible
. methods of financing ne facilities was had. Vistors in
this discussion were : M. A. Hagberg, Joe Box, Floyd Deacon,
� E. �,. Lancaster, E� J. N. Wood. A meeting is to be called
I at a later date to futher discuss these and related problems
after additional inf ormation is secured from Freese & Nichols,
and the Corps of Engineers.

RESOLUTION N0. 58-2
' Wheras, the laws of the 'State of Texas and the Ordinances of the
City of Grapevine provide that the next ensuing first Tuesday in
' April , there shall be elected the following officials fo� this
City:
AI.DERMAN, Place No. 3
ALDERMAN, Place No. !�
ALDERMAN, Place No. 5,
Wheras, the °laws of the State of Texas futher provide that the
Election Code of the State of Texas is applicable to said election,
and in order to comply with said �ode, an order should be passed
establishing the proc2edure to be followed in said election, and
designating the voting place for said election.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED AND OP,DERED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
That all independent candidates at the electien to be held on the
first Tuesday in April , 1958, for the above named offices file
their application to become candidates with the Mayor or City
Secretary of this City at the City Hall , Grapevine, Texas, on or
before 30 da�s from the dat2 of said election.
That all of said applications shall be substantially in the fol-
lowing form:

I hereby request that my name be placed upon the official
ballot for the election to be held on the lst day of April,
1958, as a candidate for of said City.
I hereby certify that I am e gi e to o d office under the
Constitution of this State and have resided in this 5tate
for a period of twelve months and six months in the City
of Grapevine and have been an actual bona fide citizen of
the said City for six months or more �just preeeedin� this
application.

That the City Secretary shall , in accordance with the terms and
�� provisions of the Election Code, post in his office the names of
all candidates who have been certified to him by the Chairman
of the Executive Committee of any party holding a convention or
primary election f'or said above mentioned offices, and the names
of all independent candidates who have filed their applications
in accordance with the terms and provisions of this order, and
said names shall be posted at a conspicuous place in said office
for at least 10 days before said secretary orders the same to be
printed on the ballot for said election.
This �ity, having one election precinct, said election shall be
he2d at the City Hall Bui,lding, Grapevine, Texas.
The City Secretary is her'eby authorized and instructed to provide
and furnish all necessary supplies and personael to conauct said
election. �ais supplies and personnel shall be furnished at the
expense of the General Fund of the City of Grapevine.
The Mayor shall issue all necessary orders, writs and notices
for said election and returns of said election shall be made
to this Council immediately after the closing of the polls.
