City Council requested t�aat ordinance b� dr�fted �rhich would (M�7-�.}
exempt Church organizatian� frcaan payi�g a fee in +�btaining a
b�xilding permit; this wot�2d b� an ame�dment t4 th� City�s
Building Permit Ord3nance.
A motion by Alderm�.� Kak�r and seccand by Ald�rma� Eidson was (M57-�,�)
�dc�pted: I}ue to the increased am4un� of water used by Churches
and due to the fact tl�at our advisrrrs hav� requested that the
provisic�ns of aur Reven�e Bonds be ab�erved, that water meters
be instalied and th� churc�.es be billed fcar water and sewer
servic�� used beginning in January, lq,�$, and that lett�r� �
exp2aining the reasans far the change in po2icy be sent each ;
church.
City Counci 1 authorized th� lo�n of an amr�unt of .� 2,400.00 from (M57-.�'6)i
the Tax Fund tca the f�eneral Fund t�o me�t the exp�r�ses af the
Generai Fund; said loan to be with approval of the finance
cc�msnitte� when ne�ded. i
City Ccaur�cil authorized th� receiving Qf bids for an eight foot (M,�j-�'j�
fer�ce around the three 2ots owned by the Waterwork�; said bids
are to be receiwed and studied and presented by next �eeting.

Cit�► Council authoriaed t�� Tax Collector to proceed with making �
arrangemer�ts tc� carefui2y ��ai�ate per�ana2 prraperty far tax (M57-58�
purposes. Final plans are tQ b� approved by the City Ca�uncil !
before putttng plans into �ffect. �
Due ta the need to curtail expenses of" the Police Department (M5?-�9�
it is deemed nece��ary ta re=assfgn dt�ties in the Pt�iic� ,
Department. This wili necesstate combi�.ing th� duties of
the nightwatchmar� and a night patrc�iman. Dn.e �tc� the �'�,abi2ity
of the pre�ent nightwatchman to �bsorb the duties of patrol��n,
it is necessary to terminate his ser�rice�. This is in nQ way, ;
a reflectic�n on the manner in which h� ha� carried out his duties i
as nightwatchm�n, In vievr af th.e prec�eding, Alderman Eidson made a ;
motion that th� City terminate the ser�rices af W. A. Spence ;
as of Novernber 15, 1957, ��d that the City be of recard as ''
�tating that his services with the City has b�en satisfactary. �
Motion seconded by Alderman Sheltcrn and passed. ''

(M57-b4} City Gauncil authorized the Pub2ic Safety C�mmittee ta pra-
ceed with selection of an employee to fiil the vacancy af ',
night patrolman and nightwatchman; said employee is ta
assume the duties formerly held by F. Smith and W. A. Spence. '
Salary set as fol2ow�t � 234.�4 per manth till January 1, i
19�8; then a $ 5.00 i�crease each month untill a salary I
of � 260.00 per month is attained. �
