was held on July 3 , 1956 with the following members present: Mayor .
� Joe D. C1ark; Aldermen M. B. Austin, Joe Box, R. T. Eidson, E. M. ;
Pair, & R. F. Shelton; Secretary Hugh Millican. I
Alderman Shelton moved that the Fire r`�arshal with the Mayor's I
approval send letters to persons who have or who do burn papers or
39 trash within the fire limits to inform them not to continue this �I
m'�`� practice and also to publis� a notice in the Grapevine Sun to this ;
effect. Motion seconded by Alderman Eidson and passed. '
Alderman Eidson introduced the following ordinance and moved its
adoption: -
AN ORDINANCE CRE�TING THE OFFICE OF CHIEF OF POLICE;
d PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES THEREOF; PRES�RIBING THE TERM ,
OF OFFICE; AND FI�ING THE COR�PENSATION OF SUCH OFFICE. '
Alderman Box seconded the motion for a�ioption which passed by vote,
6 to �. (Ordinance numbered 56-3 )
Alderman Eidson introduced the following ordinance and moved its ��
adoption: �
o AN ORDINANCE DISPENSING �ITH THE OFFICE OF CITY I
MARSHAL AND IMPOSING THE DUTIES OF SAID OFFICE �
UPON THE CHIEF OF POLICE.
Alderman Box seconded the motion for adoption which passed by
� vote, 6 to 0. ( Ordinance numbered 56-�.)
The Mayor appointed John F. Baze as Chief of Police.for the City
of Grapevine. Alderman Box moved the approval of the appointment. �

Alderman Box moved that the City approve the instalation of� a
p�lice phone extension in the home of the Chief of Police if
m�`.wo the Chief so desires. Motion was seconded by Alderman Shelton
and passed by vote.
Alderman Eidson moved that the following items be purchased for
use in the Police Department:
2 cases red emergenc�re fuses aprox. � 30.00
4 prs. hancuffs 47.60
4 cuff cases 10.10
Finger print kit 30.00
m 5�-'�� 2 traffic warning battons $.40
4 blackjacks 12.00
1m Coutesy tickets 10.00

Patches for uniforms - 36 12.00
Alderman Shelton seconded the motion which passed.
`���' Fire Chief Greener requested that the City pay the full e�enses
� of � 157.$3 incurred by the firemen in attending the meeting in
Edingburg. Alderman Eidson moved that the amount of � 157.$3 be
allowed. Alderman Pair seconded the motion which passed.
Alderman Box moved that the Public Safety Committee be authorized
M,S��� to approve service awards for the Fire Department. Motion seconded
b y Alderman Shelton and passed.

Mayor appointed J. C. Greener, L. L. Oxford, and Earl Yates as '
�S�-�'� members of the Equali�ation Board for the City of Grapevine
for the pear of 1956. Alderman Box moved the approval of the
appointments; motion. seconded. by Alderman Shelton and passed.

Alderman Shelton moved that the Tax Collector be authorized f
to settle the Tax account of the C. E. �alker Estate being
the Part of Block 13 which lies south of State Highway 114,
Starr Addition to the City of Grapevine and the account of
,�.5 PQ. H. Frank, being tract 46 of the ��lm. Dooley Survey in the
MS� City of Grapevine. Such settlement shall be for the full .
taxes due plus one-hald of the accrued interest and penalty
thereon; provided settlement is made by July 31 , 1956.
Motion was seconded by Al�erman Box and passed.
