Austin.
Regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas
was held May 3, 1955 with the following members present: Mayor Joe
Clark; Alderman Joe Box, M. B. Austin, R. T. Eidson, E. M. Pair and
R. F. Shelton present.
Upon motion by R. T. Eidson and second by M. B. Austin, Joe N. Box
was elected acting secretary to record minutes of the meeting in the
absence of Secretary Hugh Millican.
Minutes of the meetings held April 19, 1955 (Prior Council and. th en
Present Council ) were read and approved.

Ray Brisbon and J. B. Smith presented a request for the use of the
Civic Center each Saturday afternoon. Upon motion by R. F. Shelton
and second by R. T. Eidson, the Council voted to permit them the use
of the Civic Center each Saturday afternoon on temporary basis during
the current month of May for a Variety Show and Drawing on a free
mss- 51 admission basis providing the City Attorney approved the legality of
permitting such use of the building. The said Smith and Brisbon are
to pay the City 100 of gross receipts from supporters of this activity
and to see that the building is taken care of during their use and to
clean and secure the building after each use. j
Motion by R. F. Shelton and second by M. B. Austin, the Council voted
to award contract to Steed Const. Co. for the amount of $12,143.00
to install certain water and sewer extensions in Sky Harbor addition
M55-1L according to plans and specification by Freese and Nichols; this
firm being the low bidders when bids were opened at 3 :00 P. M. on
April 29, 1955.
An Ordinance providing for a Judge (Recorder) of Corporation Court
other than Mayor was discussed with no official action taken on same.
Upon motion by E. M. Pair and second by R. F. Shelton the Council
voted to adopt a resolution declaring the adoption of an unofficial
mo-34 count of the population of the City completed by the Grapevine Lions
A-Ii-4 Club and showing a total population of 2486.
Mayor Clark read a letter from Col. Fischer, Col. C. E. , dated 27 April,
�rss-3� 1955 regarding use of water from Grapevine Dam and Reservoir by Dallas
and the Park Cities. No action was taken in this matter.
Motion by E. M. Pair and second by M. B. Austin, the Council voted to
approve plat of subdivision of Lot 5, Block 7, W. C. Lucas Addition
M9616 into 4 lots as platted and surveyed by Frank H. Payne and associates
in March 1955.
Motion by R. F. Shelton and second by R. T. Eidson the Council voted
to permit L. E. Deacon, et al (Dellwood Development Co. ) to install a
34 61, sewer main to run from present City sewer line in Blevins Street
�S5 west along a 10ft. easement off N. end of Dellwood property to serve

house known as old H. H. Yancy home subject to proper easements
being obtained, line becoming property of City, being approved by
City Engineers and installed at no expense to City. City agreed to
take into consideration the reasonable cost of such line in the event
the Dellwood property is brought into the City at a later date and
a refunding contract requested by the developer of same.
Motion by R. T. Eidson and second by E. M. Pair the Council voted to

A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE RESULTS OF THE
CENSUS MADE BY THE GRAPEVINE LIONS CLUB
AS THE UNOFFICIAL CENSUS FOR THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AS OF APRIL 25, 1955.
i^JHEREAS, the population growth of the City of Grapevine during
the past five years has been substantial and such as to render
the official U. S. Census count of 1950 to be presently very
inaccurate ; and
WHEREAS, the Grapevine Lions Club recognized the need for the
taking of a current systematic population census of the City of
Grapevine and did, heretofore, on April 25 , 1955 , systematically
and very carefully take a census of the population of the City of
Grapevine as of said date; and ;
WH ERE, t1S, the President of the Grapevine Lions Club has certified d
as correct the results of said unofficial census and has forwarded
the same to the City Council of the City of Grapevine, Texas, as
j information and for its approval; and
uVH ERE ASit is the considered opinion of the Mayor and City Council
that the census taken by the Grapevine Lions Club was carried out
in a careful and systematic manner and that the results of the
same are accurate;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of
Grapevine, Texas , does hereby adopt the tabulated results of the
census taken by the Grapevine Lions Club of the City of Grapevine,
Texas , as of April 25 , 1955, as the unofficial population count
of the City as of said date and which population count is as follows:
Total population within corporate limits as of April 25,
1955 : 2486
'I Passed by an affirmative vote of the City Council this the 3rd
day of May 1955.
