The regular meeting of the City Council was held at the City
Hall on February 13, 1953 with the following being preaent:
� Mayor Gordon Tate; Aldermen J. J. Daniel, John Hemley, S. M.
Payne, R. F. Shelton, & Bill Yancey; Secretary Hu�h Millican.
Minutes of the meeting of Feb. 4th were read and approved.
Aldermsn Payne mov.e the adoption of the following ordinance:

AN OADINANCE PROVIDING THAT ALL OFFICES OF THE CITY
OF GRAPEVINE, TE XAS, EXCEPT MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING
BODY, SHALL BE FILLED BY APPOINTMENT AS SET OUT IN
THIS ORBINANCE; PROVIDING THAT OFFICERS 'nTHO HAVE BEEN
ELECTED BY VOTE OF THE PEOPLE SHALL BE ALLOWED TO
SEAVE UNTIL THE E XPIAATION OF THEIA TEFiNiS OF OFFICE." ��
Motion was duly seconded by Alderman Hemley. Motion passed
on a vote of 4 for and 1 against. (Yancey opposing the motion)
Ordinance adopted and aesigned # 53-9.
(New Election Order given by Mayor Tate)
Mr. A. B. Allen asked that in the event the community building
i� completed, that the American Leglon, poat �# 156 be granted
the uee of this building for its meetings on the nights of the
first and third Wednesdays of each month.
Motion by Alderman Daniel that the above request be �ranted.
Motion aeconded by Alderman Yan cey. Carried.
{ Letter dated January 20, 1953 from Freese & Nichols out-
lining a settlement on the Pelphrey-Basham Contract was read.
Thi� letter suggested that the City complete payment on con-
tract except that certain conditions must be met by the con-
tractor in regard to sodding and to ensure that the provisions
are met, the City retain � 250.00.
Motion b� Alderman Daniel and 8econd by Aldarman Hemley that
settlement be made along the outline of this suggestion.
Carried.
