FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 16, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF A NEW FILTRATION SYSTEM
FOR PLEASANT GLADE POOL.
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of a new filtration
system for Pleasant Glade Pool from Sunbelt Pools for the Parks and
Recreation Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Permanent Capital Maintenance Fund for a
total amount not to exceed $60,086.
BACKGROUND: The current system has been in use for the past 21 years, many repairs
have been completed to extend the life of the sand filters. Unfortunately,
parts are no longer available for this outdated equipment. This
replacement will allow Pleasant Glade Pool to resume high -rate sand
filtration with updated technology and meet current sanitation standards.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Sunbelt Pools. The Parks and Recreation and Purchasing staff reviewed
the contract for departmental specification compliance and pricing and
determined that the contract would provide the best product and pricing
for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
