The Board of Zoning Adjustment for the City of Grapevine, Texas met in
regular session March 6, 1986 at 413 Main Street, in the Council
Chambers, Grapevine, Texas with the following members present to wit:

CALL TO ORDER
with Member Garry Tischler absent, and the
resent to wit:

Chairman Lamb called the meeting to order at approximately 6:10 P.M.
NEW BUSINESS
BZA 86-10, BZA 86-11, Kenwood Homes
The first item of new business was for the Board of
to consider BZA 86-10, BZA 86-11, Kenwood Homes,
variances to Grapevine Zoning Ordinance 82-73, Sec
to converting single-family homes to models at 1502
legally described as Lots 2 and 3, Block 5, of
Subdivision.

The house at 1502 Ashwood will require a variance for the garage and
driveway and 1504 Ashwood will require a variance for the driveway.
Since this is a standard request and there was no one for or against
the request, Gerald Thompson made a motion to close the Public
Hearing. Ron Troy seconded the motion which prevailed by the
following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
Since there was no further discussion among the members, Gerald
Thompson made a motion to grant the variances as requested. Bill
Waldrip seconded the motion which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
BZA 86-12, Charles Yancey Homes
The next item of new business was for the Board of Zoning Adjustment
to consider BZA 86-12, Charles Yancey Homes, who is requesting an
exception to Grapevine Zoning Ordinance 82-73, Section 15.G.1 which
requires a thirty (30') foot front yard setback for an existing house
at 3529 Edgehill, Lot 8, Block 3, of Woodland Hills Subdivision. The
house sets one-foot, four-inches (1'4") into the required thirty (30')
foot front yard. Staff recommends approval.
Since there was no one for or against the request, Bill Waldrip made a
motion to close the Public Hearing. Ron Troy seconded the motion
which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam

During further discussion, there was concern among the members that
there was no one present to represent the request. Bill Waldrip made
a motion to deny the variance for lack of prosecution. Kay Gilliam
seconded the motion which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
Doug Lamb stated that the variance was denied for lack of prosecution
and the applicant needs to be notified that he has ten days to appeal.
BZA 86-13 - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
The next item of new business was for the Board of Zoning Adjustment
to consider BZA 86-13, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
who is asking for an exception to Grapevine Zoning Ordinance 82-73,
Section 15.H.2, R-7.5, Single-Family District Regulations which allows
an accessory structure to be a maximum height of sixteen (16') feet.
The purpose of the request is for a free-standing 49.4' tower
(steeple) to be erected.
Tommy Hardy stated that this item needs to be tabled because all the
property owners within two-hundred (200') feet of this tract were not
notified. Mr. Fawkes, with the Church, asked if the meeting could be
at an earlier date, but due to two members being out of town, Doug
Lamb asked for a motion to post-pone the meeting until the next
regularly scheduled meeting. Ron Troy made a motion to post-pone the
variance until the next regularly scheduled meeting which will be
April 3, 1986. Bill Waldrip seconded the motion which prevailed by
the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
BZA 86-14 - Randy Howell
The next item of new business was for the Board of Zoning Adjustment
to consider BZA 86-14, Randy Howell, who is requesting an exception to
Grapevine Zoning Ordinance 82-73, R-7.5, Single Family District
Regulations, Section 15.G.1, 2 & 3, (front, rear and side yard
setbacks) at Placid Circle Drive, legally described as Lot 6, Block 2,
of Placid Peninsula Subdivision.
Since there was no one to speak for or against this request, Ron Troy
made a motion to close the Public Hearing. Gerald Thompson seconded
the motion which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
After further discussion Gerald Thompson made a motion to deny the
variance for lack of prosecution. Bill Waldrip seconded the motion
which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Lamb, Waldrip, Troy, Thompson, Gilliam
Nays: None
Absent: Tischler
Doug Lamb stated that Mr. Howell needed to be notified that he had
ten days to appeal his variance.
CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES
Board of Zoning Adjustment to consider minutes of the January 2, 1986
and February 6, 1986 meetings.
Ron Troy made a motion to approve both sets of minutes as written.
Bill Waldrip seconded the motion which prevailed by the following
vote:
