Mr. Curtis Taber of Southwest Landscape Nursery was present to answer questions
from the Commission. He answered questions about the season for planting trees
and the minimum tree size for planting. Mr. Taber stated that there is a definite
season from November to February in which to dig up trees, but once they are balled
or containerized, the tree may be planted any time of the year. Mr. Taber noted that
the growth of a three inch caliper tree will always be ahead growth wise in
comparison to a one to two inch tree. Marvin Balvin presented a slide presentation
of area developments with different sizes of trees. Mr. Taber and Mr. Balvin were
asked to attend the Council meeting to discuss the Council's concerns.

OTHER-LOCATIONS
Discussion was centered on the direction Staff should give applicants for redeveloping
and rezoning properties along Northwest Highway and other non-conforming
locations. The Commission noted that not every property would be able to comply
with the current ordinance requirements on an equal basis. The Commission
requested Staff encourage each property to provide as much visible landscaping as
feasible and that all signage should be in conformance with the current sign
regulations.
