HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 09 - FertilizerMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: APRIL 6, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF FERTILIZER FOR THE
GRAPEVINE GOLF COURSE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of fertilizer for the
Grapevine Golf Course from Harrell's, LLC.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Golf Fund in the amount not to exceed
$20,187.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for 20 tons of a 27-4-10 fertilizer for the golf course
except for the greens. This is a season -long, slow -release type mix and
will be applied once, which replaces the normal practice of applying
fertilizer three times per season. The benefits of using this fertilizer
include, providing a steady supply of nutrients to the grass throughout the
season, and from an operational standpoint, reduces the labor required to
apply fertilizer three times, to only one time per year. This will result in the
reduction of time where portions of the golf course are closed.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Harrell's LLC. The Public Works Department and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
