HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 12 - SealantMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: APRIL 6, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF FLOWCRETE SEALANT FOR
DOVE WATERPARK
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of flowcrete sealant for
Dove Waterpark from Sunbelt Pools for the Parks and Recreation
Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Aquatics Repairs and Recreation Repairs and
Maintenance (PCMF) budgets in the amount not to exceed $23,000.
BACKGROUND: This is the second phase of a two-year process to restore the Dove
Waterpark and Sprayground surface. Last budget year, the existing
flowcrete was stripped and replaced. This year we are acid washing the
new surface to bring it to the optimal appearance and then sealing the
surface for protection to prolong the life of the new surface.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (Buy
Board) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Section 271 and
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Sunbelt Pools. The Parks and Recreation Department and Purchasing
staff reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best service
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
