APPROVAL OF •THE PURCHASE OF
MON ITOR/DEFIBRILLATOR
City Council to consider approval of a resolution for the purchase of a LP15 cardiac
monitor/defibrillator and associated accessories, training and maintenance from Physio -
Control, Inc., the sole source vendor.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funding for this purchase is currently available in account 100-42281-210-3 (Apparatus
and Tools) for a total amount not to exceed $40,711.90.
This sole source purchase will be made in accordance with Local Government Code
Chapter 252, Subchapter B, Section 252.022(a)(7)(A).
With the addition of the Battalion Chief of Emergency Medical Services, additional
equipment was requested so that the Battalion Chief could facilitate EMS operations at
an emergency scene that involves numerous patients. The purchase of a LifePack 15
monitor will allow him to set up treatment areas that will enhance patient care to the
citizens and visitors to Grapevine without depleting the resources on the Mobile
Intensive Care Units. This purchase will also enhance the operations at the different
festivals that are held around the City of Grapevine.
Staff recommends approval.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
OR THE CITY MANAGER'S DESIGNEE TO PURCHASE A
MONITOR/DEFIBRILLATOR, ACCESSORIES, TRAINING
AND MAINTENANCE FROM A SOLE SOURCE VENDOR,
PHYSIO -CONTROL, INC. AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine, Texas is a local government in the State of
Texas and as such is empowered by the Texas Local Government Code Chapter 252,
Subchapter B, Section 252.022 (a) (7) (A) to consider items available from only one source
as an exception to the bidding requirements of the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, Physio -Control, Inc. is the sole source provider in our marketplace for
LIFEPAK devices and services; and
WHEREAS, the City of Grapevine Fire Department has the need to add to the
current inventory of cardiac monitors/defibrillators with the same brand; and
WHEREAS, all legal prerequisites for the adoption of this resolution have been met,
including but not limited to the Local Government Code and the Open Meetings Act; and
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby declares that the approval of this resolution is in
the best interests of the health, safety, and welfare of the public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS:
Section 1. That all matters stated in the above preamble are true and correct and
are incorporated herein as if copied in their entirety.
Section 2. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to take all steps
necessary to purchase a LIFEPAK monitor/defibrillator, accessories, training and
maintenance from Physio -Control, Inc. for the total amount of $40,711.90.
Section 3. That the City Manager or his designee is authorized to take all steps
necessary to consummate the purchase of said monitor/defibrillator.
Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after the date of its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GRAPEVINE, TEXAS on this the 3rd day of February, 2015.
