I don't live far from the proposals regarding the former Grapevine fire station. As nice as parks are, I think the property is simply too small to serve effectively as a park. In my opinion, I would rather see the former fire station converted into a residence. Assuming the city of Grapevine owns the property outright, after building expenses the sale of the home could provide revenue for the city via the sale. In addition, the city would also earn revenue via the yearly property taxes an owner would have to pay. Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to share my thoughts. Which is nice and everything from a monetary stand point. However, I think that a place to take the kids to play after school is always an ideal place to go to. Which increases life happiness the the public wellbeing. I can't see that happening with a home being built there. OWN park. I know they will not walk to Dove from their home in that area. But if they have their own park they will enjoy walking there as well as playing there. Our area needs a park that is within walking distance of the several homes in the area. So many people walk or ride bicycles with their children and grandchildren along Silvercrest Rd. or on the lake path that exits on Dove Rd. Having access to a park along the way would be wonderful. Although the area is not huge, there is enough room to have a park that would meet the needs of wC4 a, - has become overcrowded during peak play times. A park at this end of the street might help alleviate some of the crowding at Dove. I hope the city considers building a park on Fire Station 2 property. However we are thrilled at the prospect of having our own neighborhood park and playground! We are parents of a small child and while there is a playground within walking distance (Pinkerton Park), you have to cross a busy road (Dove + Kimball intersection) to get there. Dove Park is close by, but you have to drive to get there and it gets crowded, and also quite hot due to lack of shade and all of the rubber surfaces. Having a playground that is literally on our street would be a huge asset for us, as well as the rest of the neighborhood and surrounding neighborhood. I am in favor of converting it to a green space/neighborhood park. Our kids were fortunate to grow up in the Austin Oaks neighborhood of Grapevine and had access to the neighborhood park there. And in their middle school years we moved over by Parr Park so that we could enjoy the park and trail facilities there. We had a choice back in 2009, to move to another city like nearby Colleyville or Keller but we intentionally chose to stay and remain residents of Grapevine. This property on Panhandle is perfect for a small neighborhood park to afford future generations the same outdoor play opportunities our children had growing up in our wonderful city of Grapevine, Texas.
