It can also serve the Camelot/Warwick Way neighborhood families who currently have nearly a mile to walk to Pickering Park.The concept is a park with a playground and turf similar to Bellaire Park and Sunshine Harbor Park. Since the property is owned by the city, land acquisition costs should be nil.We cannot think of a better use for this property. As shown on page 114 of the 2018 Grapevine Parks&Rec Dept Master Plan, 75%of Grapevine residents live within 1/4 mile of a park. The map on the same page shows that the neighborhood adjacent to the proposed park is one of the few areas that falls outside this 1/4 mile buffer. Addition of the proposed park will serve the hundreds of residents who live in these homes and increase overall park access, consistent with master plan goals. It will also preserve public access to the scenic overlook over the creek for all to enjoy.
