SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE PURCHASE OF GOLF CARTS FOR THE
GRAPEVINE GOLF COURSE
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the purchase of golf carts from Metro
Golf Cars for the Grapevine Golf Course.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Lake Enterprise fund (Golf) for a total amount
not to exceed $298,600.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for 96, 2021 Yamaha "AC" electric golf cars and two
Yamaha QuieTech gas "PTV" (Personal Transportation Vehicle) cars and
all accessories. A trade in of 94, 2018 Yamaha "DC" electric golf cars and
the trade-in of two, 2016 Yamaha "EFI" PTV gas cars will be associated
with this purchase. The warranty on the batteries of the trade-ins is 25,000
amp hours. This current fleet is quickly approaching warranty due to all
the extra rounds since COVID-19. Batteries are the single largest expense
on the golf cart. In addition, by taking delivery of the new carts before the
end of December 2021, the trade-in value of our current fleet increases
vs. taking delivery after December 2021.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with The Local Government Purchasing Cooperative
(BuyBoard) as allowed by Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271
and Texas Government Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the Cooperative and a contract was awarded to Metro
Golf Cars. The Golf and Purchasing staff reviewed the contract for
departmental specification compliance and pricing and determined that
the contract would best meet the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
