SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE AWARD OF AN INFORMAL REQUEST FOR
QUOTE FOR HDPE CONDUIT INSTALLATION
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval for the award of an informal request for
quote for HDPE conduit installation from Predur Underground
Construction Inc. for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Enterprise Utility Fund for an amount not to
exceed $32,100.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is for the installation of HDPE conduit by directional bore
from the Public Safety Range facility to the Hilton Lift Station to connect
the lift station to the City's fiber network. This connection was originally
line of sight radio link but with recent private construction in the area, the
signal was obstructed. Once the conduit is installed, City staff will pull fiber
optic cable between the two facilities to re-establish network
communication.
Quotes were taken in accordance with City Purchasing Policy. Formal bids
and advertisements are not required for purchases under $50,000. Three
vendors submitted quotations. Predur Underground Construction Inc.
submitted the lowest responsive and responsible quote meeting
specifications.

Staff recommends approval.
