SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR THE SOLE SOURCE PURCHASE FOR REPAIRS OF
A FIRE DEPARTMENT AERIAL TRUCK
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of a sole source purchase for repairs of
a Fire Department aerial truck from Metro Fire Apparatus, Inc. for the
Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Fire Department) for an amount
not to exceed $37,891.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to repair an aerial truck by Metro Fire Apparatus that
failed its annual mandated inspection and needs multiple repairs to pass.
The apparatus is currently out of service until repairs are made.
The purchase of the aerial truck repairs will be made as a sole source
purchase from Metro Fire Apparatus in accordance with Local
Government Code Chapter 252, Subchapter B, §252.022. General
Exemptions (a)(7)(3).
Staff recommends approval.
