MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE
CITY COUNCIL
FROM: ROGER NELSON, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: FEBRUARY 17, 1998
SUBJECT: ADOPTION OF THE 1996 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE
RECOMMENDATION
The Electrical Board and Staff recommends the City Council approve an
ordinance amending the Grapevine Code of Ordinances, Chapter 7, Buildings
and Construction, Article III, Division 4, Sections 7-91, and 7-97 relative to the
adoption of the 1996 National Electrical Code and amendments to same.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
The amendments to this code are those recommended for regional adoption by
the North Texas Council of Governments. The majority of these amendments
allow more lenient and reasonable application of the code, while not
compromising safety. The Electrical Board has held several public hearings
regarding the adoption of this code and its amendments beginning April 21,
1997. The Board recommends approval.
