MEMORANDUM BUILDING INSPECTIONS
MEMO TO: ELECTRICAL BOARD
FROM: SCOTT WILLIAMS, BUILDING OFFICIAL
SUBJECT: PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO GRAPEVINE CODE OF
ORDINANCES: UNDERGROUND CONDUCTORS
MEETING DATE: MONDAY, AUGUST 5, 1996
.RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the Electrical Board of Appeals approve and forward the proposed
amendment to Chapter 7, Article III, Section 7-96 as follows:
"Sec. 7-96 ON -SITE CONDUCTORS TO BE UNDERGROUND
All on -site service entrance conductors and branch circuits associated with new
construction and not within a building shall be located underground.
This provision shall not apply to replacement of existing above ground conductors."
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
This proposed amendment is the result of a request from members of the City
Council. The amendment to the ordinance would improve the aesthetics of new
construction and would ultimately improve the appearance of the City as
redevelopment occurs.

The Electrical Board for the City of Grapevine, Texas, met Monday, August 5, 1996
at 6:00 P.M., in the Conference Room, Room #204, 307 West Dallas Road,
Grapevine, Texas with the following members present:
Dennis Roberts
Pat Mitchell
Dan Banse
Irle Hightower
Chairman
Vice -Chairman
Member
Member
constituting a quorum with council representative Ted Ware. Also present was the
following City Staff:
Scott Williams Building Official
Kelly Prater Building Inspection Secretary
-CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Dennis Roberts called the meeting to order at 6:00 P.M.
OATH OF OFFICE
Kelly Prater administered the Oath of Office to Patrick Mitchell and Irle Hightower to
serve on the Electrical Board.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS,
Dennis Roberts opened the floor for nomination of officers for the 1996-1997 term
for the Electrical Board.
Irle Hightower nominated Dennis Roberts as Chairman for the Electrical Board. Dan
Banse seconded the motion, which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Roberts, Mitchell, Banse, and Hightower
Nays: None
Irle Hightower nominated Pat Mitchell as Vice -Chairman for the Electrical Board. Dan
Banse seconded the motion, which prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Roberts, Mitchell, Banse, and Hightower
Nays: None

The first item for the Electrical Board to consider was the proposed amendment to
Chapter 7, Article III, Section 7-96 as follows:
Section 7-96 ON -SITE CONDUCTORS TO BE UNDERGROUND

This proposed amendment is the result of a request from members of the City

Board members discussed the possibility of variances to this amendment in the future.
After discussion, Pat Mitchell moved, with a second by Irle Hightower, to approve
and forward the proposed amendment to Chapter 7, Article III, Section 7-96. The
motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Roberts, Mitchell, Banse, and Hightower
Nays: None
MISCELLANEOUS REPORTS AND/OR DISCUSSION
ADJOURNMENT
With no further discussion, Irle Hightower motioned to adjourn, with a second by Dan
Banse. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Roberts, Mitchell, Banse, and Hightower
Nays: None
The meeting adjourned at 6:25 P.M.
