The first item for the Board of Zoning Adjustment to consider was a request from Mr. Loyd Evans to withdraw BZA97-10 who had requested variances from the Grapevine Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance 82-73 for 204 North Dooley Street, platted as Lot 1 A, Block 6, W. R. Boyd Center, Grapevine, Texas. The applicant requested a Conditional Use Permit CU97-19 for building materials and supplies with outside storage specifically for irrigation and landscaping equipment. The Planning and Zoning Commission tabled action on the applicant's conditional use permit to May 20, 1997, in order to revise the site plan to include more landscaping to the proposed site. The applicant since that time has opted to not make any changes to the site plan as requested by the Planning and Zoning Commission. The applicant instead has requested to withdraw his application from the Board of Zoning Adjustment. The plan encourages adaptive reuse of existing residential structures for commercial and office uses where it is no longer economically or physically possible to renovate the structures for residential use. The City chartered the Grapevine Township Revitalization Project, Incorporated to assist in creating interest and involvement of the private sector in the renovation of properties in the area. The subject property is one of the first projects undertaken by the Grapevine Township Revitalization Project (GTRP). The property and house were acquired through a land exchange with the Grapevine First United Methodist Church. The Grapevine First United Methodist Church received a tract of land on South Scribner which will provide needed additional off-street church parking. The variance application was being submitted in conjunction with a request to rezone the subject property from R-7.5, Single Family to PO, Professional Office. The variances are necessary for the rezoning to be approved. Roy Stewart, City Council Representative, took the Oath of Truth and explained that there were ample parking spaces on the property, although it did not appear that way. Jill Davis asked Ms. Ratcliff if the revitalization district was going to be part of the zoning ordinance. Ms. Ratcliff explained that the Planning and Zoning Commission, at their next work session to be held May 27, 1997, would be reviewing a draft copy. With no further discussion, Ery Meyer made a motion to close the public hearing.
