FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: MAY 18, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF DIRECT SALE OF SURPLUS POLICE VEHICLES TO
THE CITY OF BLUE MOUND, TEXAS
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider approval of the direct sale of three surplus police
vehicles to the City of Blue Mound, Texas for a total of $6,000.
FUNDING SOURCE: This action will have no material effect on City funds.
BACKGROUND: In April 2021, an email was forwarded to the City of Grapevine Police
Chief regarding the City of Blue Mound's request for used police vehicles
that their City may purchase. These vehicles would preferably be
equipped or semi -equipped as police units, for they are down to one
useable police unit and in need of additional units. After reviewing the
request and conferring with Grapevine's Fleet Manager, staff decided that
Grapevine has several available surplus police units going to auction that
may meet the needs of the Blue Mound Police Department's request. The
Blue Mound Police Chief inspected the possible units. The City of Blue
Mound has agreed to purchase three of the surplus units that have been
partially stripped for auction. Grapevine Fleet Services believes that
$2,000 per unit is a reasonable asking price and the City of Blue Mound
has agreed to pay that price.
