Yf MEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER N
MEETING DATE: MARCH 20, 2007
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT AWARD TO REMOVE AND
REPLACE 50 FEET OF WATERLINE AT BUSINESS 114L AND
DALLAS ROAD
RECOMMENDATION:
City Council to consider approval of a contract award to Bil-Mik, Inc. to remove and replace
50 feet of waterline at business 114L and Dallas Road in the total amount of$16,500.
FUNDING SOURCE:
Funds are available in account 200-48930-534-1-000015WA (Utility Enterprise Fund/BS
114 Dist. 12" Water Line/Water/Sewer Series '95) in the amount of$16,500.
BACKGROUND:
House Bill 197 'raised the formal bid limit requirement from $15,000 to $25,000. City
Purchasing Policy requires at least three written quotations for purchases between $3,000
and $25,000. Advertisements are not required. In accordance with policy, written
quotations were issued to eight vendors. Five vendors responded to the request. Attached
for review is the bid tabulation.
This request is to approve an award to Bil-Mik, Inc. to remove and replace 50' of waterline
at Business 114 and Dallas Road. The existing 12" waterline at the southwest corner of
Texan Trail and Dallas Road is being adjusted to resolve a construction conflict discovered
during excavation for the Texan Trail widening. The existing waterline must be lowered
approximately two feet before roadway construction can resume at the intersection.
Bil-Mik, Inc. was the lowest of all bids received and met all of the specifications listed in the
request.
Staff recommends approval of a contract award to Bil-Mik, Inc. in a total amount not to
exceed $16,500.00.
