SUBJECT: APPROVAL FOR A CONTRACT FOR ELEVATOR MAINTENANCE
SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider a contract for elevator maintenance services with
ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation for the Facility Services Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the General Fund (Building Maintenance) and CVB
Fund (Building Maintenance) for an amount not to exceed $36,788.
BACKGROUND: This purchase will provide for elevator maintenance service including
repairs, routine maintenance, and safety testing to comply with State code
requirements for all elevators located in various City buildings. This
contract will extend the life of the elevators and equipment located at the
Palace Theatre, old police building, Wallis Hotel building, CVB
headquarters, City Hall, Public Safety, Peach Water Tower, The REC, and
Police Department gun range. Scheduled elevator preventive
maintenance will be performed quarterly. The preventative maintenance
program will include inspection and evaluation to identify maintenance or
repair requirements. If repairs are needed, the contractor will perform
repairs at no additional cost.
Purchases will be made as needed and in accordance with an existing
interlocal agreement with Omnia Partners Public Sector as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791. This contract is for an initial three-year period with
one, one-year renewal option.
Bids were taken by the cooperative for a new contract. The City has
utilized ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation for the past five years with
positive results. Facility Services staff and Purchasing reviewed the
contract for specification compliance and pricing and determined that the
contract would provide the best service and pricing for meeting the needs
of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
