NEW BUSINESS
BBA 93 -10 ED AND MARTHA LUBE
An application was submitted to the Department of Community Development by Ed and Martha
Lube representing Edmar Enterprises for the structure located at 224 College East Street. They
were requesting a variance to Section 3305(h) L, concerning corridor opening protection and to
Section 3306(1) concerning interior stairway construction which require a one -hour fire resistive
construction. They are requesting a variance from one hour construction at the adjoining wall
to existing building, including variance on the door requirements for the existing beveled glass
french doors on the adjoining wall. Dick Ward, lire Marshall, and I have discussed this
situation. All new construction will be in compliance with the current Grapevine Building Code.
However, in trying to preserve the history and architecture we believe with variances, safety is
not compromised. The fire - resistive gypsum board is on the exiting side of the corridor and the
doors can be tight - fitting smoke -and draft - controlled without replacement.
Greg Wheeler, Building Official explained the case to the Board.
With no one else to speak for or against the request, Greg Czapanskiy made a motion to close
the public hearing, Art Gordon seconded the motion which prevailed by the following vote:
