To answer the question concerning the vinyl covering, it will need to meet aclass, -flame spread / smoke development per ASTM E -84. The fire retardant treated wood panels may be approved if the construction of the maze components does not jeopardize the manufacturer rating by cutting, coverings, glues etc. applied to panels. The approved Timber Company is the one who treats, certifies and places the official stamps upon the product and would need to be the authority over placing the approval upon the panels after the company in Mexico is completed with building the maze panels. The bottom line is that those who are certified to approve the treatment of the original panels would need to be the authority to approve the panels as meeting a Class A product per ASTM e -84 standard prior to being assembled in the Mall. I hope this will clear up any question on this issue Thank You, Allen Hunt. Plans Examiner, City of Grapevine. (817) 410 -3129 Allen Hunt Plans Examiner, City of Grapevine. We understand inspection the key to the logistical challenge. As I stated the tenant prefers to apply the vinyl coverings in Mexico and then ship them to the project site. Also, please provide me the smoke and burn requirements of the vinyl. Thank you very much for your assistance with this issue. I am going by memory as stated. I see the girls brought back a revision this afternoon and I will add that to what we have. If there is any way we can adjust or have some of the open crate ceiling grids adjusted so that they are not just at perimeters we may be able to go with that also. Was there some area in the middle of the suite / middle front that was not over the maze that could be open crate ?? I believe I remember seeing the arrow etc. lighting you have stated. I will get it out in morning and see where we are. The Contractor who came in has the information on the F.R.T.W. but seemed leery of what he was looking at was same. I can red line this requirement on plans if it is last issue to be left, I just don't want the city to be in the position of 3/4 project complete and then turn down due to order of non approved lumber on site. This plywood will be approved on site by the inspector. Please ensure that the inspector can verify the stamping on site. Meet with him first, before you cut it or after before you cover or paint it. Just as long as he can tell the plywood is the tested and approved product shown in the pictures here. Thank You, Allen hunt Plans Examiner, City of Grapevine. After all of the conversations, a -mails and trouble in finding and ensuring that you will use the approved product, you have shown one sheet. As I have told you on several occasions, we will need to inspect all the plywood. Showing a sheet of treated plywood and then bringing 120 or more sheets of a wood product that is fully covered for this use will not be approved. Please have someone who is senior in your company contact me so that we might be able to avoid any further mis- understandings with this project. I have tried to help you and the Architect to ensure that this project will be correctly constructed and that we might avoid the position we are in now and I am greatly saddened that the project has continued to fall apart. I understand that you have also taken it upon yourself to start constructing revisions / additions that have not been submitted nor approved to the project just as all the original work was performed prior to City approvals. At this time I would advise that all construction should be placed on hold to avoid any further waste of time and / or material. This project will not be approved with the visual inspection of one sheet of the treated wood product. I have made this clear time and again in our conversations. (817) 410 -3129 Allen Hunt - Re: Magic maze From: Allen Hunt To: Islas, Antonio Subject: Re: Magic maze Antonio, I cannot see how to communicate any clearer, as you have written below, you wanted to have a sheet inspected and we approved by a photo of a sheet that it had the proper I.D. for a F.R.T.W. sheet, then you were to provide the rest for approval as you have just have written below. Now the rest are being fully covered at a place of business providing that we will never see the rest of the panels. Tell me, is this company who is covering the wood a large corporation? Are you having them covered and then cutting them? Are you covering more than you are going to cut / use? I am trying to figure out how to substantially provide that all wood is F.R.T.W. If we were only going to inspect one sheet, not even a sheet but approving only that a photo that a random sheet had the proper stamping, we would not have gone through all this and wasted both our time. I need a sure way to witness that all the wood is F.R.T.W. or we cannot approve the construction. Provide me a way to fully witness that all sheets used are F.R.T.W. Allen. >>> Antonio Islas < 10/23/2012 12:53 PM >>> Allan, I had told you I was going to buy one sheet so you can approve and if you would approve it we would then buy the rest from the same company for you to inspect, they will be the same as the sample your inspector saw today. We where not going to buy 350+ sheets and get your approval after, that's why we had the sample on site.there is no one above me I am the owner.
