305 Work Schedules
Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday; however,
work schedules for employees vary throughout the organization. Staffing needs and
operational requirements may necessitate different starting and ending times, as well
as changes in the total hours that may be scheduled each work day or week.
01. Supervisors will advise employees of their normal work schedule and such deviations
or alterations that may be necessary to accomplish the required work. As a condition
of employment, employees may be required to work beyond their regularly scheduled
hours from time to time. Supervisors will give employees as much notice as possible
under the circumstances, but employees may be required to work additional hours
without advance notice at any time.
02. Refusing to work beyond the regular schedule when requested is a violation of policy.
If an employee’s personal affairs require that he/she be relieved of the potential for
unscheduled work on any given day, the employee must request relief from
unscheduled work as soon as possible. This request must be made to their
supervisor or the individual acting in the capacity of a supervisor.
.03 Employees who are unable to start work at their scheduled time, regardless of the
reason, must contact their supervisor before the start of each scheduled work
day/shift, or as soon thereafter as practical, to report their absence or delay in arriving
at work and to notify their supervisor of their anticipated arrival time and date. If their
immediate supervisor is unavailable, employees shall notify another supervisor within
their chain of command. This requirement applies to all employees regardless of
their employment status (full-time, regular part-time, part-time, seasonal, casual,
probationary).
