402 Certification Pay
The City of Grapevine encourages and endorses professional training and
certification programs for its regular full-time employees. Employees who meet the
respective certification/license requirements shall be entitled to certification pay
where approved, if the certificate/license is useful in the performance of the
employee’s job.
.01 Police officers with TCOLE Peace Officer license will receive the following pay:
(1) Intermediate license $ 50.00 per month
(2) Advanced license $ 75.00 per month
(3) Master license $110.00 per month
.02 Fire officers with TCFP Fire Fighter certification will receive the following pay:
(1) Intermediate certificate $50.00 per month
(2) Advanced certificate $75.00 per month
(3) Master certificate $110.00 per month
Effective October 1, 2008 certification pay will only be paid if the Fire officer has
obtained a higher level certification than is required in the job description. Fire officers
who are currently being paid for a certification that is required in the job description
shall be grandfathered until such time they obtain a higher level certification.
.03 Public Works Utility Division employees with TCEQ license will receive the following
pay:
(1) Class D or Class I license one time pay of $50.00
(2) Class C or Class II license $20.00 per month
(3) Class B or Class III license $30.00 per month
(4) Class A license $50.00 per month
.04 Telecommunicators with TCOLE Dispatcher certification will receive the following
pay:
(1) Intermediate certificate $25.00 per month
(2) Advanced certificate $50.00 per month
(3) Master certificate $75.00 per month
.05 Animal Control Officers who receive Advanced Animal Control certification from
Texas Department of Health (TDH) will receive $10.00 per month.
.06 Parks Maintenance and Golf Maintenance employees who receive Texas
Department of Agriculture or Structural Pest Control Board of Texas licenses, and
are required to apply pesticides on the job, will receive a one-time pay of $50.00.
.07 It is an employee’s responsibility to provide documentation to notify their
department of current certification level and to submit a copy of the certificate
issued by the certifying agency through Laserfiche. In addition, it is also the
employee’s responsibility to notify their department when they have lost a
certification. If an employee loses their certification and they received payment
from the City for that certification, they will be required to reimburse the City for the
overpayment.

.08 Payroll will not initiate an employee’s certification pay until the Laserfiche Form is
received in Payroll. Certification pay is not paid retroactively.
