HomeMy WebLinkAbout0404 Standby Pay33 404 Standby Pay In an effort to minimize the disruption of City services to its citizens, the City of Grapevine will provide standby pay to eligible non-exempt regular full-time and probationary employees in Fire Inspections, Facilities Services, Fleet Services, WW Treatment, WW Collection, Water Distribution, Streets, SDUS and Traffic who volunteer or are required to respond to emergencies during non-scheduled work hours. Under the current criteria, Public Safety employees are exempt from this standby pay provision with the exception of Fire Inspectors or Fire Inspector/ Investigators. .01 Employees who are on standby will be on call for not less than seven (7) consecutive days. .02 Employees on first call will be compensated $100.00 for the seven (7) consecutive day period that they are on standby status. Employees on first call will receive an additional $50.00 for each City designated holiday that falls within their standby period. .03 Employees on second call will be compensated $50.00 for the seven (7) consecutive day period that they are on standby status. Employees on second call will receive an additional $25.00 for each City designated holiday that falls within their standby period. .04 Standby pay is received in addition to any overtime compensation and is used in calculation of the overtime rate. .05 Employees on standby status will be able to be contacted and must respond within the time frame established by their department. However, employees who fail to respond or are unable to be contacted at any time during the seven (7) consecutive day period shall forfeit their claim to standby pay, be removed from the on-call list for that seven (7) day period and be subject to disciplinary action. .06 Employees on standby status are expected to be fit for duty upon reporting to work. An employee who is called back to work is subject to the provisions of the Drug and Alcohol policy. .07 Each division will establish their seven (7) consecutive day standby period, required response time and positions eligible for standby pay. .08 As with all Citywide policies, changes or additions to the Standby Pay policy must be approved by the City Manager or his designee prior to implementation.
