409 Payroll Deductions
The City of Grapevine offers programs and benefits beyond those required by law.
Regular full-time, regular part-time, part-time and probationary employees may
voluntarily authorize deductions from their paychecks to participate in approved
programs.
.01 The law requires that certain deductions be made from an employee's paycheck
which includes mandatory deductions such as federal income tax, TMRS, PARS,
Social Security and Medicare.
.02 Deductions will be made from a non-exempt employee’s paycheck for City
equipment or property that is not returned, outstanding travel advances, outstanding
fines/charges from the Library, Municipal Court, The REC, etc., or any other amounts
owed to the City providing the employee’s hourly wages are equal to minimum wage
after the deduction(s), and their overtime earnings equal one and one-half times their
hourly rate after the deductions.
.03 Deductions will be made from an exempt employee’s final paycheck for City
equipment or property that is not returned, outstanding travel advances, outstanding
fines/charges from the Library, Municipal Court, The REC, etc., or any other amounts
owed to the City.
.04 The City does not permit improper or unauthorized deductions from exempt
employees’ salaries unless:
(a) the deduction is in compliance with federal and/or state FLSA laws,
(b) the employee has authorized the deduction, or
(c) the deduction is specifically permitted by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
