HomeMy WebLinkAbout0409 Payroll Deductions39 409 Payroll Deductions The City of Grapevine offers programs and benefits beyond those required by law. Regular full-time, regular part-time, part-time and probationary employees may voluntarily authorize deductions from their paychecks to participate in approved programs. .01 The law requires that certain deductions be made from an employee's paycheck which includes mandatory deductions such as federal income tax, TMRS, PARS, Social Security and Medicare. .02 Deductions will be made from a non-exempt employee’s paycheck for City equipment or property that is not returned, outstanding travel advances, outstanding fines/charges from the Library, Municipal Court, The REC, etc., or any other amounts owed to the City providing the employee’s hourly wages are equal to minimum wage after the deduction(s), and their overtime earnings equal one and one-half times their hourly rate after the deductions. .03 Deductions will be made from an exempt employee’s final paycheck for City equipment or property that is not returned, outstanding travel advances, outstanding fines/charges from the Library, Municipal Court, The REC, etc., or any other amounts owed to the City. .04 The City does not permit improper or unauthorized deductions from exempt employees’ salaries unless: (a) the deduction is in compliance with federal and/or state FLSA laws, (b) the employee has authorized the deduction, or (c) the deduction is specifically permitted by the Fair Labor Standards Act.
