411 Assignment Pay
Public Safety employees who perform certain specialized duties in addition to their
traditional duties will receive “Assignment Pay” in addition to their regular base salary.
.01. SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) pay will be paid to Fire Department
personnel only within the ranks of EMT through Captain working 24 hour shifts who
are assigned and perform air pack maintenance. Each employee assigned will be
paid $100 per month for any month the employee is actively working and performing
air pack maintenance.
.02 FTP (Field Training Paramedic) pay will be paid to Fire Department personnel only
in the Paramedic rank working 24 hour shifts who are assigned and perform field
training to new Paramedics, Quality Assurance (QA)/Continuous Quality
Improvement (CQI) and remedial training for existing Paramedic employees in
addition to their traditional firefighting duties. Each assigned employee will be paid
$250 per month for any month the employee is actively working and is performing
this training function.
.03 FTP and SCBA assignment pay shall not be payable during any pay period in which
an employee is:
(1) absent due to paid illness or other authorized paid leave for more than 90
consecutive calendar days, or
(2) suspended for any amount of time from duties as the result of a disciplinary action,
or
(3) in a non-pay status for any reason during the pay period.
.04 Canine Officers shall be compensated for time spent in the care, feeding, grooming
and other needs of the canine as provided in the Fair Labor Standards Act and within
the policies of the City of Grapevine.
.05 Police Department FTO (Field Training Officer) pay rates will be maintained by the
Police Department. FTO rate will be provided by the Police Department to payroll
by September 15 each year. In addition, the Police Department will notify Payroll
of the employees to receive FTO pay. Supervisors do not qualify for FTO pay.
.06 All Assignment Pay is initiated or ended by the department completing and submitting
a Status Change Form to the Human Resources Department.
