FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: AUGUST 17, 2021
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF A CONTRACT FOR EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE
PROGRAM (EAP) SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval of a contract for Employee
Assistance Program (EAP) with Optum.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in General Fund 100, Health Insurance Premium in
the estimated amount of $17,500.
BACKGROUND: The EAP is a voluntary, confidential program which helps employees work
through various life challenges that may adversely affect job performance,
health and personal well-being to optimize their success with the City of
Grapevine.
The City's consultants McGriff Insurance Services secured proposals from
Deer Oaks, Alliance Work Partners, Interface EAP, Magellan, and Optum.
City staff reviewed the proposals and met with three of the companies.
They determined that Optum would provide the best service and website
platform for meeting the needs of the City employees. This is a three year
contract with a rate guarantee.
Staff recommends approval.
