HomeMy WebLinkAboutItem 15 - Lab CaseworkMEMO TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
FROM: BRUNO RUMBELOW, CITY MANAGER
MEETING DATE: AUGUST 17, 2021
SUBJECT: PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF LAB CASEWORK AT THE WATER
TREATMENT PLANT
RECOMMENDATION: City Council to consider the approval for the purchase and installation of
lab casework at the Water Treatment Plant from Southwest Solutions
Group for the Public Works Department.
FUNDING SOURCE: Funds are available in the Utility Enterprise Fund for a total amount not to
exceed $28,982.
BACKGROUND: This purchase is to replace the lab cabinets which have reached their
useful life expectancy for this type of lab environment and testing facility.
The current lab cabinets were installed in 1989 and are not current with
lab requirements for material safety and chemical resistant tops. This
installation will bring the lab up to date to meet current lab standards and
safety with commercial grade metal case work and chemical resistance
countertops and proper chemical storage area.
This purchase will be made in accordance with an existing interlocal
agreement with the State of Texas Term Contracts Program as allowed by
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271 and Texas Government
Code, Chapter 791.
Bids were taken by the cooperative and a contract was awarded to
Southwest Solutions Group. The Public Works and Purchasing staff
reviewed the contract for departmental specification compliance and
pricing and determined that the contract would provide the best product
and pricing for meeting the needs of the City.
Staff recommends approval.
