Approval of Minutes A motion was made to approve the July 15, 2021 meeting minutes. Kevin Mitchell reviewed a citizen email with the board. 1 New Business Appointment of Vice-Chairman and Secretary A nomination was made by Mark Assaad to appoint Terry Musar as the board Vice Chairman. A motion was made to approve the nomination. Motion: Assaad Second: Nichols Ayes: Light, Musar, Robertson, Harris, Ross, Cowans, Assaad, Nichols, Gibson Nays: None Absent: None Approved: 9-0 A nomination was made by Morgan Nichols to appoint Dana Gibson as the board Secretary. A motion was made to approve the nomination. Motion: Assaad Second: Musar Ayes: Light, Musar, Robertson, Harris, Ross, Cowans, Assaad, Nichols, Gibson Nays: None Absent: None Approved: 9-0 Miscellaneous Board Items GCISD Student Report - The new student liaison, Aubrey Alexander, was unable to make the meeting due to a school function. No update at this time. GCISD Report - Becky St. John was unable to attend the meeting due to a scheduled GCISD Board meeting. She provided an update via email to the board - Fall sports gearing up; Cross Country teams at both high schools have full schedules, and football kicks off including the Red Rail game on August 27. CHHS Homecoming is scheduled for Sept 1-3. Volleyball, band, tennis, all the kids are practicing hard. The drainage repairs at CTMS (impacts some parking in the track vicinity) from the Father's Day Flood is ongoing. First Day of School went well; GCISD is encouraging masks, distancing, testing, vaccinations, and handwashing. Parks and Recreation Update - Save the Date - 9/9 at 9:30am. On 9/8 we are meeting with the adjudicator with Guinness Book of World Records to certify that the Parr Park Art Rock Trail is the World's `Largest display of painted pebbles/stones'. If successful, we will receive the certificate on 9/9 and celebrate the accomplishment of this citizen driven effort. - In September NPRA will announce the winner of the Grand Plaque Award. We are honored to be a finalist. - We are conducting a few maintenance projects such as; revamping the softball fields, bringing in turf grass to some areas, painting of some restrooms, etc. - Getting ready for fall season. Adult fall registration is currently underway. - Participation numbers at The REC are very high. - Last week was the last week of summer camp. - Sunset LIVE is scheduled for October 1 and 2.
