Grapevine Golf Course Clubhouse (Multipurpose Room) 3800 Fairway Drive Grapevine, Texas 76051 Call to Order Citizen Comments Any person who is not scheduled on the agenda may address the <Board> under Citizen Comments or on any other agenda item <by completing a Citizen Appearance Request form with the staff>. A member of the public may address the <Board> regarding an item on the agenda either before or during the Board's consideration of the item, upon being recognized by the <Chairman> or upon the consent of the <Board>. In accordance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, the <Board> is restricted in discussing or taking action during Citizen Comments. Get Golf Ready) (Robert Singletary) 4) Landscape around new building (Deborah Gore, Lou Capone) 5) Persimmons Bar and Grill update (Michael Scheel) 6) Golf Course maintenance report (Merlin Tielkemeier) Consideration of minutes Consider approval of the minutes of the April 15, 2021 meeting and take any necessary action. Russell Pulley, Director of Golf Golf Board STATE OF TEXAS COUNTY OF TARRANT CITY OF GRAPEVINE The Golf Course Advisory Board of the City of Grapevine, Texas met in regular session on this 15th day of July 2021 at 5:00 p.m. at the Grapevine Golf Course, 3800 Fairway Drive, with the following members present: Louis Capone Member Bryan Humphreys Member Tom Kormondy Member Robert Blalock Member Tom Cherry Member Deborah Gore Member Constituting a quorum, with the following members of the City Staff- Russell Pulley Director of Golf Robert Singletary Head Golf Professional Merlin Tielkemeier Superintendent Paul Slecta City Council Mike Scheel Persimmons Bar& Grill Manager CALL TO ORDER Russell Pulley called the meeting to order at 5:01 p.m. CITIZEN COMMENTS There were no citizen comments. ITEM 1-Summary of Golf Course Operations 3rd Qtr. and discussion (Russell Pulley) Russell shared the 3rd Qtr Golf Operations Summary report. Highlights were another good quarter with golf rounds and revenues up over prior year. Successes were the new clubhouse in full operation with new golf carts. Challenges are adjusting to new operational procedure and logistics of new clubhouse location(cart staging and management). Bob Blalock asked about the Annual Pass Holder Program status as he heard there is a waiting list. Russell explained why it is capped and why. ITEM 2—New Facilities Update (Russell Pulley) Russell shared new entrance plan and road improvements and ETA. Tom Cherry asked about cart barn& cart staging differences. Russell explained that team is adapting and new logistics requires more staffing which is challenging in these current times. Robert is working hard to recruit and hire staffing. Russell shared that Fairway Drive may have to close for Army Corp. to do annual inspection in near future and we would try to coordinate with needs to complete front golf course entry road completion as they may need to close entrance road for a day. ITEM 3-Instructional Program Update (Jr. Academy, PGA Jr. League. Get Golf Ready) (Robert Singletary) Robert reported that the JR academy is going well and Eric has full group of students. The 2021 Get Golf Ready Programs continues to be successful and classes are full. Bryan Humphreys asked about old clubhouse status. Russell & Robert shared that that demo funds were redirected to complete the new clubhouse. City is looking at other options for old building including demo at a later date. ITEM 4—Landscape around new building (Deborah Gore & Lou Capone)) Lou asked about plants and landscaping around new clubhouse and concerns that they were not well suited. Russell &Merlin explained the new lines &issues to work through. ITEM 5—Persimmons Bar& Grill (Mike Scheel) Mike Scheel gave brief update on restaurant opening and operations challenges being worked on. He shared that no real promotions thus far, but getting ready to start events to be published& marketed more. Ex. Pints for paws, weekly Par 3 event, and others to come. Mike gave an update for the new"Container"with delivery coming soon. The location will be below the old clubhouse between #1 tee of Mockingbird and#9 green of Pecan. Bev cart service will add new carts and expand services such as "Margaritas on tap". ITEM 6-Golf Course Maintenance Report (Merlin Tielkemeier) Merlin discussed the effects of the winter storm & that we are pretty lucky that we had minimum damage compared to many area golf courses that lost up to 50% of their turf. Recent spring rain & excessive play have made it a challenge to keep up with mowing. Aerification of the greens is set for August 2-4. CONCIDERATION of MINUTES Consideration to approve the minutes from the April 15, 2021 meeting were approved by a motion by Bob Blalock with a second from Lou Capone.
